Running with a higher cadence doesn’t mean running faster. ✅ A slightly higher cadence can reduce knee loading and improve running economy because it often helps your foot land closer under your body instead of overstriding. For many runners, increasing cadence by about 5–10% is a good starting point. 💡 When runners try to increase cadence, they often speed up unintentionally. That raises heart rate and changes the training effect — especially during easy runs. But cadence practice should also happen during your easy mileage (the ~80% of your training). 1️⃣ Tip 1: Wear a heart-rate monitor. Increase cadence while keeping your heart rate in the intended zone. 2️⃣ Tip 2: Control your pace. If your easy 10 km is normally run in X minutes, keep the same pace while slightly increasing cadence. 🎯 Rhythm tip: Use a playlist or metronome set to your target cadence. #running #runningtechnique #motivation #run

👇 Can you spot the differences ? If you run like the first video you prob hate running. Here's why : Efficiency. Most athletes mentally just run by pitting one leg in front of the other. While mentally : this is not necessarily wrong, but it can lead to injury. Why ? - Without proper form ➡️ you rely TOO much on quads, calves and hamstrings. While those muscles are active ➡️ it creates an imbalance than can increase the impact on your legs. It's the reason why you get : - Knee Pain - Shin Splints - You feel running is so much harder than it should be. - Energy- efficient running ➡️ comes from your hips. - Specifically ➡️ hip-extension and glute drive. But how do you do that ? I use a skater technique to help me remember this while running. If you want to know how to do it. Comment "SKATER" and I'll send it to you. #athlete #runbetter #runningform #runningtechnique #coordination

Running fast requires attention to detail. Every effort that is not directed into forward propulsion will slow you down. To take advantage of your effort, keep things in line the best you can, especially side to side movement. How to control side to side forces (collapsing) ? Your side to side forces are controlled by your running technique and the strength of your stabilizing muscles. This is where the details matter. If you are lacking in one, or both of these areas, you will often has excessive side to side movement. The comparison videos in this reel were taken about 15 minutes apart with technique training in between. Altering the physics of your running stride is often the fastest way to realign forces for faster running. Then with technique training supported by strength training, you have a winning combination. Excessive side to side movement can lead to slower times, less efficient running, and increased risk of running related injury. Controlling side to side movement will make you faster. Running with a higher cadence doesn't mean running faster. To have minimal impact on the knee and joints as well as having a better running economy, it is for most runners good to have a running cadence of over 170spm, as this almost automatically forces your body to move in a way which makes your feet land in the right axis with regards to your body. If, however, you currently have a lower cadence but you want to make a higher cadence your routine, it is very likely that at first you will want to speed up, which as a result increases the overall pace but unfortunately then also pushes up your heartrate and therefore changes the training effect. However, a higher cadence should also be implemented on the 80% of your other runs, the ones that are denoted as easy and aimed for building up your overall base. Tip 1 to avoid speeding up🤘: wear a heartrate monitor and up your cadence (steps per minute) but keep the heartrate in the zone you intended to stay in. Tip 2 🙌: monitor your pace while upping the cadence, i.e. if you normally run an easy 10k in X minutes, keep that pace this time too. Tip to get the right rhythm for the cadence: check out my Spotify playlists (link in my highlights)💡 ➡️ 👟 (sponsored) #uaflow velociti wind by @uarunning @underarmour #theonlywayisthrough PS: they have a sensor built in that helps you improving on your cadence 🔥 #lauftraining #k #marathon #laufsport #instarun #fit #instarunner #gym #triathlon #laufen #fitnessmotivation #laufen #runnersworld #runningtechnique #lauftechnik #running #run #runner #fitness #runningmotivation #instarunners #trailrunning #runners #training #workout #sport #motivation

Here is why ⬇️ these exercises build the posture, rhythm, and stability that translate over into running 🔥 1️⃣ Bounding teaches you to push the ground away and stay tall. If you can’t hold the position you’ll fall. It strengthens hip stability and body tension so you don’t “sit” while running. That helps you keep your hips high and run more powerfully. 2️⃣ Running Form & Stride Drills teaches rhythm and foot placement. The spacing forces you to land underneath your body instead of reaching forward or doing too small steps. That improves your posture, and makes your stride more efficient. #runningtechnique #running #sports

As a #runningcoach who majored in design in human factors and ergonomics (BS), I’ve been creating #runningform #runningtechnique videos on YouTube for the past 14 years 🏃🏻🙌. I’ve thought about #runcoach cues to help #runners of all levels: #5k #halfmarathon #marathon #xc #track #ultramarathon #ultrarunner #runfaster ! Here the cue is: “Try to land with your foot behind your center of mass”….in reality you are actually landing closer to your center of mass (probably slightly in-front actually!…but we are trying to minimize an over-stride and massive heel strike. Picking up the #runningcadence or #striderate can help with this too! Shoes: @hoka ✅Follow along for more #runningtips @higherrunning #anysurfaceanydistance 🎥: @sandinypaver #higherrunning

When my running coach taught me to run as a 13 year old, he told me to pretend I was holding butterflies in my hands to make sure I was running relaxed and not with clenched fists. A simple cue that’s stuck with me throughout my running career. Keeping relaxed through your body while running is an important factor in improving your running efficiency and some simple cues to help run with a better technique can make a world of difference to your running performance. What are some strategies you use to keep your body relaxed when you run?
