🪖 SOLDIERS: Who else thinks the MAX standard for the Plank event on the AFT is way too long? 👉 SAVE this for later. 👉 SHARE with a buddy who needs it. 👉 Get the 8-Week “MAX the AFT” fitness plan at grittysoldier.com (link in bio) Anyway… here’s some exercises you can do to help strengthen the core and improve your ability to hold the plank for an unholy amount of time. 1. WEIGHTED PLANK: When you practice or train the forearm plank specifically, try it with some extra weight. Use a plate, a vest, anything that spreads out the weight evenly. Start light and work your way up. If you train like this, an unweighted plank will be cake! 2: AB ROLLOUTS: I love these. I typically like to use a barbell and plates to do this, because I feel like a get a better stretch in the lats and definitely throughout the whole core. Try a few sets to failure with these, guarantee you’ll feel it. 3: HANGING LEG TUCK: I don’t know about you guys, but I kept doing these even after the Army dumped them. This exercise is incredible for core strength. Doing these regularly will not only define your mid-section, but you’ll absolutely notice a difference in your ability to hold a plank. I don’t think the Plank event is going anywhere, so keep training, keep working towards that MAX! 💪 The Spirit B52 Pro Home Gym System from @majorfitness_global has the perfect height for me to execute clean hanging leg tucks, while also maintaining the ability to rest without leaving the top bars. This weekend at our SoldierFit Rockville location, something powerful happened… 25+ people—staff and members—showed up on their own time to deep clean the facility. Why? I called every single person to thank them—and they all gave me the same answer: “Because of Priscilla.” They didn’t come for a job. They didn’t come for recognition. They came because of how one woman shows up for them every single day. Sick? She shows up. Tired? She shows up. Overwhelmed? She shows up. That’s servant leadership. She didn’t just lead them into a cleaning day She created a space where people wanted to serve each other. They laughed, played music, brought food, and said they had fun scrubbing floors and moving equipment. Read that again. People had FUN cleaning a gym. Why? Because they love the leader, and more importantly—they feel loved by her. Here’s the reframe: Leadership isn’t about what you get from your people. It’s about what you give to them. So here’s your challenge today: Don’t tell people what to do. Serve them so fiercely they’ll never question who they’re doing it for. To the Rockville team—I love you guys.
