JOWhen other nations warn America about the very ideologies and laws we are fighting to embrace—things they themselves are struggling to be set free from—that should be a red flag, not only to the natural eye, but in the Spirit.
Scripture tells us this would happen.
In the last days, hearts would grow hardened toward truth. “Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter” (Isa. 5:20). Paul warns that many would be “given over to a debased mind” (Rom. 1:28), and that deception would increase because people “refused to love the truth” (2 Thess. 2:10).
This is why discernment matters.
Jesus rebuked those who could interpret the weather but failed to discern the times (Matt. 16:3). We are called to be watchmen on the wall (Ezek. 33:7), sober-minded and alert (1 Pet. 5:8), not ignorant of the enemy’s schemes (2 Cor. 2:11).
This is not about fear—it’s about faithfulness. Not outrage—but obedience. Not hatred—but truth spoken in love.

Lord, open our eyes to see and our ears to hear. Soften hardened hearts. Restore a love for truth. Grant discernment to Your people and courage to stand as salt and light in this hour. In Jesus’ name, amen.

CHThe table has always been holy ground for me. It’s where listening happens. Where stories are shared. Where I can share my faith. Where love has a chance to do real work.
But being a person of faith does not put me in a box.
My faith calls me to love.
To listen more than I speak.
To resist judgment.
To choose compassion always.
And what’s happening is not right.
I’ve lost a lot of followers here and that’s ok. A lot of people don’t really know me, but have judged where I stand - and I’m probably about to piss off a lot more.
But I’m committed to creating spaces—through food, through gathering, through community—where people feel seen instead of sorted.
Not more division—but more love. More salt.
That’s part of why my son and I created the Salt & Light Supper Club.
Not just to break bread—but to break chains.
To loosen strongholds.
To tear down the barriers that keep us from seeing one another as fully human.
The other day I was on a walk and a woman in a wheelchair with her dog were rolling by. I stopped her and asked her why she was in a wheelchair. She told me she was in a head-on car accident and lost one of her four children. I can’t really imagine what it feels like to live that way, but I can tell you this, everyone carries a burden. Everyone deserves to be seen and feel human.
So if you’re feeling overwhelmed or helpless right now, here are a few ways to turn concern into action:
• Call your representative. Use your voice for the people who don’t feel heard.
• Invite someone over for dinner. Break bread with someone, even if you don’t full agree with them..
• Put your phone down and sit at a table. Real change happens face to face, without distractions, when we really hear each other.
• Choose one act of kindness today that costs you something – including your time. Buy someone a cup of coffee. Pay it forward to a person in line. It will feel good, I promise.
And pray. If you’ve never prayed before, it doesn’t have to be a fancy prayer. It just has to be one that comes from your heart. I pray for mercy and compassion to fall like a big blanket over this country.🙏🏽
