WHMy journey to Sammed Shikharji began at 9 pm with a 9 km trek up the sacred mountain. Guided by cool breeze and twinkling stars, the 14-hour pilgrimage felt like a bridge between the earthly and divine.
Reaching the Parasnath Tonk during the sunrise, at the highest point (1365m) in Jharkhand, brought a profound sense of peace. Sammed Shikharji , where twenty of the twenty-four Jain Tirthankaras along with thousands of monks attained Moksha, is one of the key Jain Tirtha.
Here's a commonly quoted verse from Jain scriptures about Sammed Shikharji:
संमेदं नाम राजेन्द्र! पावनं पावकं महत्।
यत्र पादोदकस्पर्शाद् यान्ति मोक्षं मुनीश्वराः।।
संमेदशिखरे याति न नरकं याति कथंचन।
This verse highlights the Jain belief that a pilgrimage to Sammed Shikharji can lead to spiritual liberation and prevent one from going to hell.
The entire trek, including climbing, darshan, and descending, totaled around 27-30 kms.
The journey was divine, with serene views amidst lush jungles - a profound experience of faith and perseverance. I'm grateful for this incredible journey and the tranquility it brought to my soul.
