CLWe never said this battle to bring pride back to the community was going to be easy… there are people that live there that deserve a clean environment and those ones that come in disrespecting it must be caught and handled appropriately by law enforcement. To catch them, the city has to set up better protocols for the long term.
In the interim, we must do our part.

SOCame across this pile of trash during my morning run in South Central Los Angeles and knew I had to come back after work—especially with rain in the forecast.

CLThat’s how it all started… Monday I came to clean this place, never imagining I would find a woman living inside the sewer.
I spoke with neighbors, and they’re very upset about everything happening here. Situations like this affect the whole community, and they shouldn’t be ignored.
I’m calling on city authorities to take action and follow up on these cases. We can’t accept conditions like this in our neighborhoods. Let’s take care of this beautiful city together.

THWe cleaned up trash and debris around the highly requested Warner & Garfield Boulevard area. Outside of our paid contracts, we do free community cleanups because we believe neighborhoods deserve to feel welcoming, safe, and good places to raise children.
It’s our responsibility to care for our own communities. Sometimes it’s OK to need a little help, and helping each other is how neighborhoods grow stronger. We know many do appreciate what we do from residents to business owners. Plus, mother earth!
When people visit, they should see pride in the place you call home. Trash is often one of the first things visitors notice, and it can influence how they feel about an area. Rather they move there, leave, invest, or even bring their families out to dine. Many people would rather drive to far away places not just because of crime but also because of the TRASH! Cleaner streets help attract business and families. It also supports investments already established and promotes LONG TERM community growth.
We worked along Warner and Garfield Boulevard, nearby side streets, sidewalks, business areas, bike paths, and even around a local daycare. We didn’t capture the bulk of the cleanup on video because there was so much work to do (as usual), but we collected a large amount of debris including small litter, cigarette butts, and items that get stuck in hard-to-reach places.
Communities cannot truly thrive when trash is ignored.
It looked great when we finished.
Will it be right back trashed? Maybe but we’ll keep showing up.
Change doesn’t happen from one cleanup — it happens by showing up consistently. By taking a stand.
This work is part of the mission of The Trash Boys. Our goal is not just cleaning streets but restoring community pride in youth and adults one block at a time.
We are excited about our TTT program starting March 23rd, where teens will learn leadership, responsibility, and community service — and for some, the opportunity for employment. We’ve got teens joining from Cleveland, Garfield, Maple and more.
This work isn’t about recognition or money. It’s about impact and protecting the future of our environment and neighborhoods. #thetrashboys
