The hell do we need 500 billion plastic bottles a year for? We’ve become so desensitized to overconsumption and overproduction that these things seem normal. 500 billion plastic bottles a year is not normal! Ending our addiction to disposable plastic will heal our planet and ourselves. #plasticpollution#pollution#singleuseplastic#zerowaste#sustainability#sustainablymade#environment#saveourearth#savetheocean#oceanlover

For days, as I close my eyes, I see this moment so clearly, her eyes watching me and her lower eyelid (nictating membrane) lifting in response to her pain as I attempted to free her from the nets 💔 Thank you to the wonderful people who commented and shared on my previous post, I have ordered the suggested bolt cutters for cutting hooks ❤️ and this experience has re-solidified the importance of packing and carrying multiple knives (fellow snorkeler, Freedivers, and scuba divers please do the same 🩵) Grateful in a way the haunting memory replays have given me the idea for the future to use several surface marker buoys and lines attached to the far end of the net (careful you don’t send the boat away and it cannot find you - pack extra SMB’s) In a perfect world, I hope to never come across another sad situation like this again, but given that so much fishing gear is lost in the ocean every day and how many marine animals I see entangled seemingly every week, I’m glad to have now considered this option for the future. The best solution is for everyone to try to push for better regulations, most industrial fishing fleets have no regulations on the number of sharks that they can kill, or gear they lose. Many have no restrictions on the number of other marine species they can kill either. If the demand for a seafood was to drop the pressure on the supply chain could too. There have been some technological developments to help mitigate by catch in certain methods, but without regulations that require these new developments to be used, many companies just go with whatever is more cost-effective to them. Thank to everyone who shared the previous post, speaking up and raising awareness so her (and many others) suffering does not go unnoticed. ❤️🦈❤️🐬❤️🐋❤️ I promise I have a happy post after this, about how local fishermen opted to use a local diver to help them coexist, instead of killing the sharks ❤️🦈❤️ #ocean #sharks #sharkdiving #oneocean #sharkconservation #savetheocean #sharknet #sharkwhisperer #savingsharks #sharkrescue #sharksafety

The ocean gives us oxygen, food, and is home to countless species. We love spending time in it, but convenience has led to plastic pollution. We need to disrupt this, get creative, and work together for future generations. Some of the ocean’s most iconic species are on the line. In just weeks, world leaders will decide if whale sharks, manta rays, and oceanic whitetip sharks receive full protection under CITES. If the vote fails — trade continues. If it passes — the ocean gets a second chance. Add your voice. Sign the petition. Share the message. Together, we can turn awe into action. #maravilhasdomar #vidamarinha #naturezamarinha #amaroceanico #pazdomar #curapelanatureza #oceano #marbrasil #marinlife #sealovers #underwaterworld #naturezapura #maravilhasdanatureza #naturelover #instanature #instamar #oceanlife #poderdasaguas #planetamar #savetheocean #brazilnature #worldnature #oceanvibes #seahealing #belezanatural

Every 10 seconds seismic airgun shots are fired from survey vessels to search for new oil and gas deposits in the seabed. These surveys can can go on for months and are as loud as undersea earthquakes or volcanoes.... Whales (and many other marine animals) primarily communicate using a variety of wonderful sounds, including clicks, whistles, and pulsed calls. Can you imagine how these surveys disrupt our marine ecosystem? Noise from a single seismic airgun survey can blanket an area of over 300,000 km2, raising background noise levels 100-fold, continuously. Help raise awareness about this massive and widely unknown issue. On the way to the UN Ocean Conference in June, we ask governments to leave the fossil fuel era behind with all its negative side effects. 90.000 signatures almost. Can we get to 100.000 until June? #BecauseOurPlanetIsBlue #savethewhales #savetheocean

@tarimgovtr @milliparklar @bolge6.dkmp @antalyadkmp #seaturtles #turtles #caretta #akdeniz #mediterranean #savetheocean #sea #wildlife #antalya #manavgat #animals #awareness #SaveThePlanet #turtlelovers #savetheturtles
