The group reportedly constructed a parallel road through private land, directly connecting it to a national highway. This allowed vehicles to bypass the official toll plaza, offering a quicker and cheaper alternative. Their strategy was simple yet effective — they charged almost half the official toll rate, making it an attractive option for daily commuters and transport vehicles. To maintain legitimacy, the setup included: barricades and entry points resembling official toll booths workers handling collections a system that appeared structured and routine Because of the lower price and smooth flow, drivers rarely questioned the authenticity of the toll. The operation continued uninterrupted until official toll operators noticed a drop in revenue and raised concerns. This triggered an inquiry, which eventually exposed the unauthorized setup. Here’s how the scam usually goes: • Someone in a costume (Elmo/Spider-Man/etc.) pulls your kid in or steps into your photo. • You take a quick pic thinking it’s a fun NYC moment. • Then they block your way, demand cash, and pressure you hard (“tip now,” “how much you got?”). • If you hesitate, it can get loud, intimidating, and messy fast—especially with kids. How to avoid it (without drama): ✅ Don’t engage — keep walking, don’t make eye contact. ✅ If your kid wants a photo: say “No thank you” while moving. ✅ Never hand over your phone to them. ✅ If they step into your pic: put your phone down and walk away. ✅ If they follow you or won’t back off: head into a store / hotel lobby and call for help. ✅ Tell kids before you arrive: “We don’t take pictures with characters in Times Square.” This isn’t “NYC being NYC.” It’s predatory—because they target families who don’t want a scene. 🚨 DELHI COMMUTER EXPOSES FAKE MCD PARKING RACKET AT JANAKPURI METRO What looked like a normal parking payment turned into an unexpected scam bust in West Delhi! 😳 A vigilant commuter noticed something off while scanning the QR code at Janakpuri East Metro Station… > “QR scan shows a personal bank account… ye MCD ka nahi hai!” 🤯 Fraudster (with full confidence): “Nahi sir, sahi hai!” 😅 Police were called on the spot and detained the accused — Rahul Kumar (22) from Uttam Nagar. 📌 How the scam ran smoothly for days: He allegedly swapped the official MCD QR sticker with his own fake one 10–15 days ago. Charged the same official rates (₹20–30 for two-wheelers, ₹50 for cars) — so nobody suspected! ₹18,000+ had already gone directly into his personal account! Case registered under IPC 419 & 420 (cheating & impersonation). 👉 After the exposure: ✔️ MCD removed all old QR codes and will now install tamper-proof hologram stickers. ✔️ Delhi Police has started checking other parking sites in West Delhi. 😂 Bhai ne privatization ko itna seriously liya ki MCD ko hi outsource kar diya!
