I have been having the most brilliant conversations with clients the last couple weeks. It is not lost on me that many people I work with often orient to their healing, shadow work and trauma in the same way that they oriented to their “sin”— as though healing is some process of sanctification. Becoming “your best self“ and optimizing yourself is not the same thing as healing, although often they connect and overlap. That’s beautiful! But when we start to dig and dig, anxiously looking for “what’s wrong with us“ so we can fix it, it seems like an orientation to self that’s rooted in the belief that we are broken, bad and need a savior… much like the American Christian church does. The more and more I do this work, the less and less I am interested in self optimization that attempts to dominate and erase our humanity. Shame is not a healing modality— forcing ourselves to behave differently is not transformation. It’s a new cloak. It’s a new mask. But it’s the same ego structure and/or wound. I’m much more interested in if your patterns are working for you— and how curious you can become as you create more safety for your authentic self to emerge. It is so much less about perfecting yourself like guided gold, and so much more about thawing and feeling your way into conscious choice (which is where personal power lives). I’m curious, has shadow work ever felt endless to you? Perhaps only working with what is currently arising is the most elegant and compassionate solution. 💓 More on this in tomorrow’s podcast. [OptimumYOU] While it’s nice to have an aesthetic body and look shredded, one of the benefits of optimizing your health and fitness is ENERGY. Let’s say you need 8 hours of sleep to perform optimally- but you only “workout” twice a week- or not at all. You begin to optimize your health. You add daily cardio and stretching. You lift weights 4 to 5 times a week. Still sleeping 8 hours. Dialing in your diet and supplementation. Sometimes you feel tired but you’re seeing results so it’s ok. After your body adjusts to this, you double up on your cardio. Morning runs daily plus two days to martial arts . Still lifting 4-5 times a week. Still sleeping 8 hours. You’re faster on your runs and more efficient with workouts. Diet and supplements are now on point. Your self care is better because you prioritize your health, rest and recovery Fast forward a year later. You’re healthier- but most importantly, your CAPACITY for work has increased. Your energy requirement has increased due to the workouts and your body, as it is designed to do… adapts to the new changes. You have more energy than you did a year ago. This energy can be applied to other endeavors. Family, business, fun. You can now tell the difference between being “tired”- which is physical and “fatigue”- which is in the mind. This is a discovery you can ONLY make via consistent physical exertion. You find that you need less sleep, can work for longer hours and as you keep optimizing, your energy levels and capacity for LIVING keep increasing. Your successes compound because you make self optimization a lifestyle. Every decade, you get better and better. This is how you optimize your life. By increasing your capacity to live, reduce risk of disease and issues which could negatively impact your life. First session on Optimizing your fitness for the summer is April 15th at 6:00pm CST. Veagly is the combination of vegan + lifestyle and focuses on improving peoples health through self optimization, exercising, eating healthy, etc. For this brand I wanted the colors to be really strong and a color scheme that definitely stands out. My goal was not to choose the obvious green color which brands almost always pick within the industry, so that’s why I choose these blue/grey tones! THE VITAMIN DEBATE: Should kids even take vitamins??? I was totally on the fence on this. Obviously, natural sources are always the goal, but as someone who is a biohacking enthusiast and takes 20+ supplements a day in the name of self optimization, I couldn’t ignore the call to fill any possible dietary gaps for my kids, especially with back-to-school sniffles creeping in. 🤧 Disappointingly (or may I say disgustingly), most kids’ “vitamins” out there are really just sugar bombs with a side of chemicals 🤢 , but here I found some clean, safe options that my kids actually love and you might want to look into as well… 🙌🏻 What my little ones (aged 5&7) take each day: 🐝 bee pollen in their morning smoothie: Nature’s multivitamin, packed with protein, amino acids, and immune-boosting power. (I buy mine in the local farm shop or market) 🥦 🍋 a good multivitamin: Covers the basics and ensures they’re getting essential nutrients they might miss at lunch (because, let’s be real, veggies don’t always make the cut). We like this one from @kalvitamins ☀️ vitamin D: Sunshine in a jelly. Crucial for immunity, bone health, and mood, especially this time of the year (this one from @mollers_esp I have to hide, they love it too much ) 🦠 probiotics: Happy gut, happy life.
