STWhen a dog does not have adequate food, water, shelter and is suffering and injured the dog MUST BE REMOVED. The person at the end of the leash does not get to make a decision or have the right to refuse care for the animal. We offered care for the dog and money to the person so they could get shelter and the person declined. The animal cruelty happening on Skid Row has nothing to due with "cultural sensitivity." It has nothing to do with "criminalizing homelessness", politics, tax brackets, ethnicity or any other bullshit excuse city leaders use. It is about THE ETHICAL TREATMENT OF ANIMALS. There are laws in place to protect them and they are intentionally not being enforced on 50 city blocks they call Skid Row - formally known as Skid Road.
This dog is just one of MANY animals we witnessed first hand just a few days ago on Skid Row who is being ignored and allowed to suffer by @mayorofla @laanimalservices @lapd Annette Ramirez, LA city and ALL city council members. Imagine all these people go to work every day and CHOOSE to do nothing to help abused and suffering animals on Skid Row and all over the city. They have the authority, power and resources to end this but CHOOSE to do nothing day in and day out year after year. Imagine that.
This is a deplorable and disgusting systemic failure. Their JOB is to protect the animals. These animals did not sign up for this nightmare they are being forced to live. Those who condone this cruetly are monsters.

If you would like to go down to Skid Row and take matters into your own hands - go right ahead but that is on you and whatever consequences you suffer will be your own. If you are outraged - GO COMMENT ON ALL THE CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS PAGES. COMMENT ON THE MAYORS PAGE. COMMENT ON @laanimalservices PAGE. Stop making ridiculous demands on the page who is fighting for the animals and DONATE to the @standupforpitsfoundation towards the film we are making to expose the monsters.*

NAI think this is the one thing that we can all agree on. No one should be forced to live like this. Fixing this problem should not be on the shoulders of volunteers and non profits. Budgets this year were cut for spay and neuter leaving rescues to fundraise even more. Spay and neuter is not being enforced on skid row leading to animals being bred for sale living in horrible conditions. Along with the substance abuse and mental illness, many animals fall victim to unstable people. Itβs time the city stepped up and made this a priority. Huge should out to the amazing people I met that are out there every week trying to help.

REWe are prepared to fight for as long as it takes to end the horrific animal crisis in Los Angeles. There is no reason why - after 15 years of serving this area things should be where they are. There is no excuse why the @standupforpitsfoundation should be using our resources, funding and time doing the job of @mayorofla and @laanimalservices. NONE. They have made it very clear they think this is a game they can win and they do not see dogs who are supposed to be protected and cared for by them as sentient beings. They see them as numbers and believe "cultural sensitivity" is more important than their lives. They have shown no respect for our efforts, organization and have went so far ad to name call the Executive Director "unhinged" and a "grandstander" for simply offering solutions and saving lives. Therefore further action is needed as we have exhausted all other efforts. Sadly more of our time and resources will be used but for the sake of all the humans and animals in Los Angeles who's rights are being violated and who are paying the price with their lives and sacraficing their mental health - there is no option.
We will need your continued support and will - as always - keep you updated every step of the way. We those of you who call and email and demand action. Keep doing it. Don't get tired. Lives are depending on it.
