THANK YOU PUBLIC WORKS! 🤙🏼😎
- Redirecting the flow of this creek mouth is necessary in order to prevent further meandering. There is so much development all around this area that this creek mouth needs to be maintained in order to prevent Bacteria levels from rising from stagnant water, to prevent mosquitoes, flooding, property damage, and more sand displacement down the beach. This area is very unique and ALL of this water no matter what will end up in the ocean. So speeding up the inevitable by breaking the sand berm to let the water flow is necessary to prevent more problems from happening.
This location is NOT a good spot for an “estuary restoration” because there is way too much development in the surrounding area and not to mention the hundreds of thousands of homes up stream. Including the golf courses, parks, roads, homes, storm drains, damns, culverts etc.
So in order to prevent MORE bacteria from growing in an “estuary” - which will be a SMELLY STAGNANT SWAMP - you breach the berm and make sure it is flowing straight out from the bridge. 👍🏻😎.

SOCONNECTING THE CREEK TO THE OCEAN! 🤙🏼 @blairconklin , Oliver @chad_stickney ‘s son and I helped get the creek flowing! 😎👌🏼 - To prevent the creek from meandering, flooding of the pedestrian tunnel, property damage, stagnant water that creates mosquitoes and increases bacteria levels. All is prevented when you make the creek flow straight out from the bridge. Also it is free when the wave riding community, home owners, public… etc dig it out and helps city public works so they don’t have to do it this time. All good things. 🫡

This creek wave is created when the immediate area up stream about 1,000 feet is drained out into the ocean. The area gets filled full of water mainly high tide ocean salt water during the summer and dry season. This water has to go back out into the ocean in order to prevent mosquitoes, flooding, harmful bacteria from growing in stagnant water and preventing property damage and a meandering flow.
The majority of the time this creek mouth drains by itself with no human interaction. Sometimes the city has to use heavy equipment to breach and straighten out the creek flow here, and sometimes the public or board riders can also speed up the inevitable with their hands or a couple shovels. But at some point whatever the case this water will go into the ocean. So frequent berm breaches are better than letting this water sit stagnant causing more harmful problems to the environment and property and life.
This water gets trapped in this area by the waves and high tides pushing the sand up in front of the creek mouth. The problem is people do not see all the way up stream or know this area and upstream has been extremely developed with many roads, houses, parks, resorts, storm drains, culverts, damns etc. All of which affect this creek mouth. If this water does not flow straight out from the bridge regularly it becomes very smelly, mosquito filled, stagnant bacteria swamp!
So don’t believe the lies about this potential “estuary restoration project” - which will just make this area a larger smelly, mosquito filled, stagnant swamp.
