We should get ready for a big solar storm. In 1859, the sun released a blast of energy toward Earth. When it arrived, telegraph machines sparked and the Northern Lights were visible as far as the tropics. The bizarrely dark-red aurora made people think that cities were on fire. It was the largest geomagnetic storm ever recorded, but it probably won’t be the last. We should prepare for one soon… #space #science #solarstorm #sun #solarflare #follow

Update • December 5, 2025 A colossal solar storm erupts from the surface of the Sun, unleashing rivers of superheated plasma that slam straight into Mercury — the closest planet to our star. For a moment, the tiny world looks like it’s melting, glowing like burning metal as solar fire consumes it. This AI-generated visual shows the raw power of our Sun… and raises a chilling question: If Mercury can be overwhelmed so completely, what protects Earth when the next massive storm hits? Scientists warn that extreme solar events do happen — and the last one capable of crippling Earth’s power grid was more than 160 years ago. We are overdue. A reminder of how fragile our world truly is in the heart of a powerful solar system. ⚠️ AI-generated for space awareness and educational visualization. #SolarStorm #SpaceWeather #Sun #Mercury #Earth #SolarFlare #CosmicEvent #ScienceAlert #SpaceUpdate #Dec52025

🚨ALERT: S4 SEVERE SOLAR RADIATION STORM – STRONGEST IN 20 YEARS NOAA’s Space Weather Prediction Center has confirmed an S4 Severe solar radiation storm in progress on January 19, 2026. Their bulletin says radiation levels measured by GOES satellites have climbed into the Severe category on the NOAA scale and that this is the largest solar radiation storm since the October 2003 “Halloween” event. On top of that, the impact of a coronal mass ejection has pushed Earth into a G4 Severe geomagnetic storm, powerful enough to disturb GPS, HF radio and high latitude power systems. This storm was triggered by multiple X class solar flares from a hyperactive sunspot, which launched a strong CME straight toward us. Now that it has arrived, the sky is responding. Auroras (northern lights) are already being reported far from the usual polar zones and NOAA’s forecasts show potential visibility as far south as parts of the United States, Europe and maybe even closer to the tropics if the field orientation stays favorable. This level of storm does not automatically “collapse GPS and the power grid,” but it absolutely can degrade navigation, cause radio blackouts at high latitudes and make life difficult for satellite operators and grid controllers. I am following NOAA SWPC, space weather dashboards and real time aurora maps so you do not have to. Comment your city below and tell me if you see auroras tonight. A long exposure on your phone or camera can reveal more than your eyes can see. The Carrington Event was a large solar storm that took place at the beginning of September 1859, just a few months before the solar maximum of 1860. In August 1859, astronomers around the world watched with fascination as the number of sunspots on the solar disk grew. Among them was Richard Carrington, an amateur skywatcher in a small town called Redhill, near London in England. On Sep. 1, as Carrington was sketching the sunspots, he was blinded by a sudden flash of light. Carrington described it as a “white light flare” according to NASA spaceflight. The whole event lasted about five minutes. The flare was a major coronal mass ejection (CME), a burst of magnetized plasma from the sun’s upper atmosphere, the corona. In 17.6 hours, the CME traversed over 90 million miles (150 million km) between the sun and Earth and unleashed its force on our planet. According to NASA spaceflight, it usually takes CMEs multiple days to reach Earth. #space #geomagneticstorm #solar #solarstorm #earth #sun

The Carrington Event was the most powerful solar storm ever recorded, striking Earth in September 1859. The event was first observed by British astronomer Richard Carrington, who witnessed a massive solar flare erupting from the Sun just before the storm hit the planet. ☀️ When the charged particles reached Earth, they created intense geomagnetic disturbances that disrupted telegraph systems around the world. Some telegraph operators reported sparks flying from equipment, while others were able to send messages even after their power supplies were disconnected because the storm itself energized the lines. ⚡ The storm also produced spectacular auroras visible much farther south than usual, lighting up skies across the Caribbean and even near the equator. Scientists believe that if a solar storm of this magnitude happened today, it could severely disrupt satellites, power grids, and modern communication systems. 🌌 Let us know your thoughts below! • #learn #reels #educational

🌬️ Solar Storm Update – May 19 Earth is still feeling the effects of a high-speed solar wind stream (CH HSS) today! 💨 Winds peaked at 750–800 km/s (that's over 1 million mph), triggering a G1 geomagnetic storm and auroras in high latitudes. 📉 Wind speeds are now around 692 km/s but still strong enough to keep stormy conditions going through May 19. Expect calmer conditions by May 20. ☀️ No major solar flares or Earth-directed CMEs were spotted. But one region, AR4087, has a powerful magnetic setup — is it building up for something big? 🧲 The animation from 2020 shows Earth’s magnetic environment being hit by a solar storm: • Green glow = strong currents in Earth’s magnetic environment • Purple/orange lines = magnetic field strength (orange/yellow = strongest) • Blue tracers = solar wind streams calibrated to shine brightest when moving toward Earth 🔗 Video graphic data: Laboratory of X-Ray Astronomy of the Sun 🎥 Animation via: NASA Scientific Visualization Studio & NASA DRIVE Science Center for Geospace Storms #SolarStorm #AuroraAlert #SpaceWeather #SunWatch #SolarWind #NASA #GeomagneticStorm #AuroraHunters #StarWalk

Back in 1859, Earth was struck by the most powerful geomagnetic storm in history, the Carrington Event. A massive coronal mass ejection (CME) from the Sun reached Earth in just 17.6 hours, something that usually takes days. The result? Auroras so bright you could read a newspaper. Telegraph lines failed, shocked operators, and even caught fire. If this happened today, we could see GPS outages, power grid failures, and widespread communication breakdowns. This NASA simulation visualizes how the event would unfold. Are we prepared for the next one? Astronomers are monitoring a series of violent solar eruptions that some claim could signal an unprecedented event — a possible “crack” in the Sun’s magnetic field. The discovery has triggered widespread debate and, in some corners, panic, as scientists warn that these massive bursts of energy could unleash geomagnetic storms strong enough to disrupt satellites, power grids, and communication systems across the planet. The phenomenon began when high-resolution solar observatories detected unusual fissure-like patterns stretching across the Sun’s equatorial region. These rifts, formed by magnetic stress and plasma instability, appear to be releasing charged particles at record intensity. The sheer energy output is staggering, leading some observers to compare it to the largest solar flares ever recorded. Elon Musk, who has often warned about the vulnerability of modern civilization to solar events, reportedly commented that “if this accelerates, we’re not ready.” While the idea of the Sun “cracking open” sounds apocalyptic, astrophysicists explain that the term refers to shifts in the Sun’s magnetic structure — not a literal rupture. Still, the energy released could reach Earth within days, potentially disrupting power grids and GPS systems if the magnetic storm intensifies. Experts emphasize that solar activity naturally peaks in cycles and that catastrophic outcomes are extremely unlikely. Most space agencies, including NASA and ESA, are closely tracking the event and preparing satellite operators for possible interference. Disclaimer: There is no verified evidence that the Sun is physically “cracking open” or that humanity faces destruction. Solar flares and magnetic disturbances are regular occurrences within the solar cycle, and current data does not indicate an imminent global catastrophe. #SolarStorm #SpaceWeather #NASA #ElonMusk #CosmicEvents #Astrophysics #FBLifestyle #444Energy #SpiritualMagusBKK #SeedOfDoubt
