🌌 OUR SOLAR SYSTEM: A COSMIC NEIGHBORHOOD At the center of it all is the powerful Sun, holding everything together with gravity. Orbiting around it are incredible worlds—from rocky planets like Earth and Mars to massive gas giants like Jupiter. Between planets lies the Asteroid Belt, filled with ancient space rocks, while distant icy giants like Neptune mark the outer edges of our system. This perfectly balanced system has existed for billions of years—guiding planets in stable orbits and making life possible on Earth. It’s not just space… it’s our home in the universe. 🚀 ⭕ #SolarSystem #Space #NASA #Astronomy #planets

The rarest kind of solar system. Out of all the different kinds of solar systems, ours appears to be the rarest! Simulations and surveys of other planets tell us that the most common solar system is one where all the planets are about the same size. So then HOW did ours get like this? The leading theory has to do with Jupiter! To learn more, follow along! #science #space #solarsystem #rare

Explanation 👇 It is a common misconception that the Sun is “burning” like a campfire or a candle. On Earth, fire is a chemical reaction called combustion, which requires oxygen. In space, however, the Sun uses a completely different process that doesn’t need oxygen at all. The Sun is powered by nuclear fusion, not chemical combustion. In combustion, atoms rearrange themselves to form new molecules (like wood and oxygen turning into ash and smoke). In fusion, the centers of the atoms (nuclei) actually smash together to create entirely new elements. Instead of oxygen, the Sun uses its own massive gravity as “fuel” to start the reaction: • Extreme Pressure: The Sun is so massive that its gravity crushes its core with incredible force. • Extreme Heat: This pressure creates temperatures of about 15 million°C. • The Reaction: At these temperatures, hydrogen atoms move so fast that they overcome their natural urge to repel each other. They smash together and fuse to become helium. Mass Turning into Energy :- When those hydrogen atoms fuse into helium, the new helium atom actually weighs slightly less than the hydrogen atoms that made it. That “missing” mass isn’t gone; it is converted into a massive amount of energy (heat and light) according to Einstein’s famous equation #physics #sun #solarsystem #astrophysics #astrology #facts #spacefacts

From small rocky worlds to massive gas giants, planets can seem unbelievably huge… 🌍🪐 One by one, they grow in size — each larger than the last — making you feel like you’re finally seeing the giants of our solar system. But just when it feels like nothing could be bigger… The Sun appears. And suddenly, everything else looks insignificant. The Sun isn’t just bigger — it dominates. It holds 99.8% of the entire solar system’s mass, making all the planets combined look like tiny specks around it ☀️ What felt massive just seconds ago… now feels almost nothing. And the craziest part? In the universe, even the Sun is just an average star 🌌. 📌Follow @worldofastronomers for more interesting videos. #space #sun #planets #stars #sizecomparison

The Solar System Isn't Moving in Circles... It's Flying Through Space We were taught that planets move in neat circles around the Sun. But what they didn't show us is that the Sun itself is traveling around the Milky Way at incredible speed carrying the entire solar system with it. Every second, Earth is moving not just around the Sun... but through the galaxy. We are literally on a cosmic journey right now. Gargantua Black Hole 🌀 The Gargantua black hole in the film Interstellar was one of the most scientifically accurate depictions ever shown in cinema. The visuals were based on real equations, and scientists have even published research papers based on the simulations used in the film. The intense time dilation near Gargantua (where one hour is equivalent to seven years on Earth) is theoretically possible around a rapidly rotating black hole. Sometimes science can be more astonishing than imagination. 🌌✨ #space #science #blackhole #solarsystem #galaxy

Wait for it! He made her prettier. New researches suggests that Saturn and Neptune were historically in a spin orbit resonance that tilted Saturn's axis by 27 degrees. So what's resonance? In simple words it means a planet's gravity holds another planet. Neptune is in resonance with Pluto aswell and keeps it in solar system. So as neptune tilted saturn it destabilised one of its moon named Chrysalis, which got torn apart. Today its pieces revolve around saturn as a ring. Neptune indeed helped saturn get the ring.

Neil deGrasse Tyson explains that the sun emits all colors of the visible spectrum at once which our eyes perceive as white light The only reason it looks yellow to us is because of Earths atmosphere As sunlight hits our air the blue and violet wavelengths get scattered away which is why the sky looks blue and the sun looks slightly yellow from our perspective If you were standing in the vacuum of space looking at the sun without the atmosphere getting in the way it would be a brilliant blinding white This means every sunset and golden hour we see is just a beautiful atmospheric filter on a white star #neildegrassetyson #astrophysics #solarsystem #sciencefacts #astronomy

The drastic variations in the length of a day across planets in our solar system, challenging the Earth-centric perception of time. Fastest Rotation: Jupiter has the shortest day, taking just under 10 Earth hours to complete a rotation. Slowest Rotation: Venus has an exceptionally slow rotation, with a single day lasting approximately 243 Earth days. Earth Comparison: A day on Earth, specifically a sidereal day, lasts 23 hours and 56 minutes. Mercury’s Pace: Mercury completes a rotation in about 58 Earth days. #science #jupiter #nasa #earth #mercury
