If you’re an advanced English speaker, this word ACTUALLY can still betray you. Many Spanish speakers think it means “actualmente.” But that’s a false friend — and using it with that meaning is wrong 😑 At advanced levels, these small mistakes are the ones that give you away. So what does ACTUALLY really mean? We can use it … ✨ 1. To create contrast “I thought the exam would be easy. It was actually quite difficult.” ✨ 2. To correct someone “Are you French?” “No, actually I’m Belgian.” ✨ 3. To express surprise “That restaurant was actually really good!” ✨ 4. When you change your mind “I don’t want tea… actually, I’ll have one.” ✨ 5. To emphasise that you’re telling the truth “I actually saw him steal the money.” Small words. Big difference. At advanced levels fluency is not only about more vocabulary — it’s about using the right words in the right way. 📚 If you want to polish your English and avoid the mistakes even advanced learners make, join my courses 😊😃 #aprendeingles #advancedenglish #b2first #c1advanced #englishonline

Most English learners say “Today was good” and stop there. But fluent speakers don’t just say what happened — they add how it felt, how surprised they were, how it compared to other days. That’s not grammar. That’s confidence. Watch a simple sentence level up ↑ Then say the C1 sentence out loud — not just read it. Say it like you mean it. Save this. You’ll use it. #learningenglish #esl #englishfluency #speakenglish #aprenderinglês

“I drink coffee every morning” is perfectly correct. It’s also exactly how a textbook sounds. Fluent speakers don’t just state facts — they express how things feel. That’s the difference between accurate and natural. Save this and practise the C1 tonight. For more techniques like this, join Fluency Lab — weekly study tips, straight to your inbox.
