Bright sun is not just uncomfortable for athletes. It changes how your brain processes the game. Years ago, Nike released performance contacts called Nike MaxSight. They were designed for outdoor sports to help athletes see the ball more clearly in bright conditions. Athletes who tried them reported the same thing. The ball suddenly popped from the background. This matters in sports like tennis, baseball, beach volleyball, cricket, and football. When the sun creates glare, light scatters everywhere. Your eyes squint. Your brain works harder to filter the visual noise. Fatigue starts earlier than you realize. Performance tints help reduce that noise. They filter certain wavelengths of light so contrast improves. The ball becomes easier to track. Your brain processes the signal faster and cleaner. Athletes describe it as better focus, faster tracking, and less eye fatigue. Not superpowers. Just removing a small visual barrier that slows performance. If you are an athlete, coach, or parent trying to understand what actually helps visual performance, this episode is worth your time. Fast reactions start with fast visual processing. 👀 The Brock string exercise may look simple, but it challenges one of the most important visual skills: how well both eyes work together. In vision therapy, this exercise is commonly used to train vergence, eye teaming and binocular coordination. Why Reflexion? Because cognitive training is The Future.⚡️ I use the @Reflexion Edge to sharpen some of the most essential skills to my sport - reaction time, peripheral awareness, decision making and hand-eye coordination. Neuro cognitive training is important to my fight camp because fighting is just as mental as it is physical. 👊🏼 #thefuture #reflexionlabs @reflexionedge #sportsvision #cognitivetraining #cognitiveskills #neurocognitive #visiontraining #neurofitness #mma #boxing #bjj #martialarts

As shooters become more advanced it’s even more critical that goalies stay patient with their eyes 👀. In this drill the light comes at them at different speed, they have to remain patient, judge depth and speed of the light, snap their eyes in (converge) and work on timing! Sports vision can help goalies get the edge during off ice training! #hockey #ohl #goalie #nhl #sportsvision

Most athletes train speed. Few train the thing that controls speed in games: processing. The athletes who separate themselves under pressure usually aren’t just stronger or faster. They see faster. They recognize faster. They decide faster. At ProLevel Performance, we train the part of performance most athletes overlook: • Visual processing • Reaction efficiency • Decision-making under pressure • Attention & focus • Game-speed awareness An athlete can have all the physical tools in the world… but if the brain can’t process the game fast enough, hesitation shows up. Late reactions show up. Missed reads show up. That’s why our Game Performance Training focuses on helping athletes transfer skill to competition. Because looking good in drills and performing in real moments are two different things. Most prepare for the game. Few are ready for the moment. Our eyes don’t move on their own-they’re guided by powerful areas in the brain that help us focus, shift attention, and interact with our environment. Three of the key areas in this system are the frontal eye field (FEF), supplementary eye field (SEF), and parietal eye field (PEF). With each having a unique role they work together like a team forming complex neural networks. The frontal eye field (FEF), located in the front part of the brain, helps move the eyes on purpose-like when we decide to look at a specific object or shift our gaze while reading. It’s all about voluntary eye movements, especially those quick jumps our eyes make (called saccades); when scanning the octagon or playing field and tracking players and following moving objects. The supplementary eye field (SEF) works strategically behind-the-scenes. It helps plan and coordinate more complex eye movements, like when tracking a pattern, remembering where something was, or preparing to look at a specific spot betore actually moving the eyes. It’s more about internal control-thinking ahead of the eyes. The parietal eye field (PEF), located further back in the brain handles reflexive, automatic eye movements-like when something suddenly flashes or moves in your peripheral vision and your eyes snap to it. Then there’s the superior colliculus a midbrain network that plays a crucial role in orienting the body towards visual, auditory, and somatosensory stimuli. It acts as a sensorimotor interface, integrating sensory information and initiating appropriate motor responses like eye and head movements. Essentially, it helps quickly direct attention and actions towards threats and potential attacks in the environment. Accurate Reaction speed relies on visual input and brain processing speed.
