2Pقبل 4000 عام قبل الميلاد ظهرت أوائل خُطى البشر في بناء الحضارة على كوكب الأرض. شعب وُجد من العدم لم يُعرف إلى الآن ما هو أصل السومريين، بسبب أن لغتهم لا تتشابه مع أي لغة لأي شعب آخر، مثل الشعوب السامية التي كانت أقرب في المنطقة إلى السومريين من غيرهم. إذًا، وحسب علم الآثار، فإن السومريين لا ينتمون إلى أي مجموعة عرقية سواء سامية أو غيرها.
كيف انتهى السومريون كقومية؟
بعد بداية الحضارة السومرية، واجهت هذه الحضارة هجمات من أقوام يُدعون بالكوتيين، وهم أقوام بدائية هاجمت سومر ودمرت معظم معالمها الحضارية. وحتى بعد القضاء عليهم وبناء الإمبراطورية السومرية الجديدة، واجهت الإمبراطورية هجمات من الأقوام المجاورة كالعاموريين والساسانين والتي أودت بحياة العديد من السومريين وتسببت في تشتيتهم.
أما بقية السومريين فقد اختلطت جيناتهم ببقية الأقوام من العرب والبابليين وغيرهم، ولهذا فإن القومية السومرية قد انقرضت منذ زمن بعيد، أما جيناتهم فما زالت موجودة حتى اليوم، لكنها ذابت في جينات باقي الأقوام.
بناء الحضارة
ظهرت الحضارة الأولى في جنوب العراق على هيئة دويلات صغيرة، ثم جُمعت هذه الدويلات تحت مملكة واحدة. تضمنت الحضارة أعمال الإعمار من بناء المباني والمعابد، وتعلُّم الكتابة والشعر والأدب والرياضيات، فقد كان السومريون أول من قسَّم اليوم إلى 24 ساعة، والساعة إلى 60 دقيقة، وهم أول من قسَّم السنة إلى 12 شهرًا.
كما وضعوا أول القوانين في التاريخ مثل تشريعات أورنمو وإصلاحات أوروكاجينا، والعديد من مظاهر الحضارة التي تُنسب إليهم، مع وجود الأدلة المادية عليها من الرقم الطينية والتجارة، واسم يخلده التاريخ من دون قوم.
