SUOn July 5, 1954, Elvis Presley was just goofing around in the studio with Scotty Moore and Bill Black when lightning struck. ⚡
During a break, they launched into an upbeat version of “That’s All Right.” Producer Sam Phillips hit record and the rest is rock & roll history.
That spontaneous jam became Elvis’s first-ever Sun Records release.
Later that night, Sam rushed the track to WHBQ DJ Dewey Phillips, who gave it a spin at 9:30 PM. The phone lines blew up with requests to hear it again and again and again.
