Right now, anyone in the UK can wake up, call themselves an ‘estate agent’ and start advising on people’s most valuable assets, with no qualifications, no accountability, and no consumer protection
£1.6 trillion: the current value of residential property in the UK.
Over 50% of homeowners surveyed in 2024 said they did not trust their estate agent to act in their best interests.
Less than 10% of agents today hold formal industry qualifications.
This simply isn’t good enough
As an industry, we owe it to our clients and to our future to hold ourselves to a higher standard which for me in no less than mandatory licensing, proper training and T rue accountability
Legislation is not a threat to good agents. It’s a chance to define our profession with pride and I am super keen to see how his come much sooner than later!
