Princess Aston was not your typical royal; she preferred trekking through the Whispering Woods to sitting on a throne. One rainy afternoon, while exploring the edge of the Great Marsh, she heard a series of desperate, high-pitched bleats.
She rushed toward the sound and found three young fawns struggling in a thick, bubbling patch of deep gray mud. They had wandered too far from their mother, and the more they kicked, the deeper they sank.
The Rescue Plan
The Princess knew she couldn't just jump in, or she would get stuck too. She had to act fast but be smart about it.
Step 1: She gathered long, sturdy fallen branches from a nearby oak tree.
Step 2: She laid the branches across the mud to create a wooden "bridge" to distribute her weight.
Step 3: Crawling carefully on her hands and knees, she reached out to the first fawn.
"Easy now, little ones," she whispered softly to calm their racing hearts.
A Happy Ending
One by one, Princess Aston gripped the fawns by their sturdy torsos and pulled them onto the grass. They were shivering and covered in slime, looking more like "mud monsters" than deer. She used her silk cloak to wipe their faces so they could breathe and see clearly.
Suddenly, a large doe emerged from the trees. She let out a soft nuzzle of thanks toward the Princess before leading her tired babies back into the safety of the forest. Aston watched them go, her golden dress ruined, but her heart feeling lighter than ever.
