Because somewhere along the way they absorbed the same bias those adults in this video are performing without thinking. Like a girl became a quiet instruction. Adjust your tone. Take up less space. Be effective, but not too effective. Be confident, but not too confident. The women who made it? Many of them learned to perform the diminished version so well they stopped noticing they were performing at all. This video matters because it shows exactly where the bias lives. Not in policy. Not on paper. It lives in the body. In the reflex. In the laugh that follows the imitation. These adults are not bad people. They are conditioned people. And the most dangerous part of conditioning is that it feels like common sense until someone holds up a mirror. Those girls are the mirror. I built my career in a male dominated industry. I was told I was too direct, too ambitious, too much. I made adjustments I did not need to make. What I know now is this: the world does not need more women who have learned to run careful.
