Tags that tell a tale of an understudied fish. This week we were notified of ANOTHER recapture of a spaghetti-tagged false albacore from our fall tagging campaign. This fish was tagged on the same day, only a couple of minutes apart from one of our previous recaptures - both of which experienced their second documented angler interaction off the coast of Southeast Florida (Jupiter & Boca Raton respectively). These recaptured fish have unveiled an evident connection between the populations that anglers chase off the coast of Massachusetts and those which spend their summers in Florida. In this video, young angler Logan Torino (@torinofishing.tv) documents a tag being deployed off the coast of Jupiter this summer. Weโ€™re insanely impressed by this young manโ€™s commitment to #TheAlbieProject and grateful his tagging video has already achieved almost 3 million views! Thank you, Logan. Weโ€™re anxious to see if any of the spaghetti-tagged fish from the Treasure Coast of Florida are recaptured in New England this coming fall and canโ€™t wait to dive deeper into the acoustic telemetry data together in the coming weeks.
