Na nossa opinião, é a obra mais fiel sobre o movimento skinhead que você pode assistir, uma vez que o próprio diretor fez parte do movimento.

A trama acompanha Shaun (Thomas Turgoose), um garoto de 12 anos que perdeu o pai na Guerra das Malvinas e sofre bullying. Em determinado momento, ele encontra acolhimento em um grupo de skinheads.
Inicialmente, o grupo liderado por Woody (Joseph Gilgun) apresenta uma abordagem mais comunitária da cultura skinhead, que une imigrantes jamaicanos e trabalhadores ingleses em prol do estilo musical ska, gênero musical que teve sua origem na Jamaica no final da década de 1950.
Porém, a chegada de Combo (Stephen Graham), um ex-integrante recém-saído da prisão, transforma o cenário.
Com um discurso ultranacionalista e racista, influenciado pelo partido político inglês National Front (partido real), Combo conduz a história para um embate entre amizade, ideologia e os impactos da manipulação política sobre a juventude inglesa.
Essa parte tem como objetivo retratar a grande cisão que aconteceu no movimento skinhead na década de 70/80 e deu origem a diversos grupos distintos que reivindicam o nome do movimento.
A direção de Meadows adota um estilo cru, evidenciando a brutalidade da época sem romantizações. (Fica aqui o gatilho, é perturbador mesmo!)

A atuação de Thomas Turgoose é marcante, transmitindo com sensibilidade a transição de Shaun da inocência para a esperança de um pertencimento.
No entanto, é o grande ator e vilão Stephen Graham quem oferece a performance mais impactante, dando vida a Combo como um personagem complexo, ao mesmo tempo ameaçador e trágico.
