Lyme is not something I want him to battle for life but I’m not not letting him play outside because of it. I’ve seen cedar pellet things you can get for your yard? What other natural things can we do in our yard to stop the tics? I want to get a few plants that help deter them for around his playset, but that is just such a small part of the yard. Ticks don’t only live in the forest! 🌳 Ticks can be found in your backyard. Here are some ideas to keep in mind to reduce the potential prevalence of ticks: ✨ Trim back branches and keep sun on the perimeter of the yard. - Ticks like cool, damp, shaded areas. ✨ Don’t put playsets or furniture on the grass in heavily shaded areas. ✨ Keep grass short. ✨ Rake leaves often. Ticks like to hide in the shade. ✨ Spray Permethrin or organic cedar oil on the lawn. Less toxic than commercial insecticides. Permethrin is safer for amphibians and animals, yet still toxic to other insects. Cedar oil is the least harmful to other critters yet still an effective deterrent for ticks. (You also do not have to spray your lawn, this is only an option - I personally do not) ✨ Putting cedar wood chips along the perimeter of your lawn. Cedar is a natural tick deterrent. ✨ Plant crythanthemums along the perimeter or near playsets, furniture. (Where Permethrin comes from - toxic to ticks) With the increased prevalence of Lyme disease, we need to take some precautions. I know I want my kids and pets to be able to play in the backyard with low risk.🙏🏼 #lyme #tickprevention #naturopathy #lymedisease

Tick season doesn’t have to feel scary — it just requires awareness + a plan 🕷️🌿 Prevention matters, but knowledge and quick action are everything. ✔️ Do regular tick checks (especially behind ears, along hairlines, under arms, and behind knees) ✔️ If you find a tick, remove it properly and save it — you can actually get ticks tested to know exactly what you’re dealing with ✔️ Don’t wait and wonder…being proactive early can make all the difference I also like having a few gentle supports on hand — certain homeopathics I can reach for immediately if we ever do get bitten, just to support the body right away. Ledum palustre is the primary homeopathic remedy often recommended for tick bites to reduce swelling, itching, and potential infection, especially when applied immediately so keep it on hand! And for prevention, we keep it simple: we use Young Living insect repellent because it’s clean, safe for my family, and actually works 🙌🏼 You don’t need fear — you need tools, awareness, and a plan.
