SCAh, The Leapfrog Ladies 🤦 🥲 14 years I’ve worked in diving 6 of that with sharks. I’ve seen some guests do some bat shit silly stuff 😂 but that was madness. Nothing wrong with them outside of the water, lovely people, but inside the water man my anxiety as a guide/trip leader 😂 💀 Rules are a created to be followed. Rules keep you safe. Whether or not you want to know what a tiger shark feels like. Sandpaper. There now you know. You want the best experience you can get and we can give it ya, but not if you leapfrog on the sharks.

MOTiger Sharks are one of the smartest, most perceptive beings of the ocean. And they don’t attack unless provoked. We were strictly told not to panic around them, or fin aggressively and definitely not to turn our backs to them. If you see a tiger shark approaching, you’re always supposed to LOCK eyes with them. Soon as you do that, they turn away. We did tiger shark dives every day for 8 days or so and only ONCE did our safety divers have to touch them to redirect them. Most of the time they’d just use their fingers to divert them without touching.
When we were in the water with them, we could sense how intelligent they were. And you can really sense their “don’t fuck with me” energy too. It’s too damn cool that a creature that can easily rip you in half, so calmly lets you exist in its presence. My closest encounter was when a pregnant mama shark came within inches of me cuz that day it was just two of us girls and the safety divers so she got super curious and close. And man, that feeling was something else.
Sharks are incredible beings that have been around for over 420 million years - longer than dinosaurs!! And we humans need to respect that. Humans are right now coexisting with only a fraction of the sharks that used to exist on the planet and they could be on the brink of extinction because of over fishing.

Jokes aside, please always shark dive with operators who have a great track record of safety & experience. Sharks are like motorbikes, if you don’t know what you’re doing it’s probably not going to end well…
Learning how to dive safely with sharks is not an education you want to rush 😅 take it slow and enjoy the journey! For your sake and for the shark’s sake.
I’m still learning every year, and even @lonubreak who has over 15 years of shark experience says he’s still learning every day.

Once a certain size, there are very few natural predators that can become dangerous to #seaturtles. But #tigersharks are definitely one of them. However, this #seaturtle shows in perfection HOW to use its body armour and demonstrates the additional behavioural avoidance strategy that makes their shell so effective.
@jonoallenphotography narrates: "Trying to eat a #hawksbill #turtle, this #tigershark paid a pretty price 🦷. Biting down on the turtle’s hard shell cost the tiger a tooth! Did you notice it falling out in the video?? If you look closely, you should be able to see it drop.
Nicknamed “Gangster Turtle” this fearless hawksbill is famous for giving absolutely zero f*cks about being surrounded by feeding sharks 20 times its size 😂
Even after being reminded about who’s boss and the dangers of being a #seaturtle, in true Gangster Turtle style, she was back feeding amongst the sharks just an hour later 😎"

ANI love this above view from this interaction I had with two tiger sharks who kept pursuing me during a dive. The current was incredibly strong making dive conditions very challenging. You can see how quickly both myself and the shark drift as she comes back to me the second time and her head comes out of the water. Gonna miss these beauties as they phase out and we don’t see them more consistently until end of summer/ early fall🦈
