I used to think the 200/400 was about how HARD you could run… It’s not. It’s about how long you can stay FAST without destroying yourself. Most athletes don’t slow down because they’re weak… They slow down because they burn their speed too early. Here’s what changed everything for me: 1.I stopped chasing people in the first 150m. If you panic when someone goes out fast, your race is already over. Run YOUR model. Fast and aggressive but controlled. The real race starts when everyone else tightens! 2.I learned to carry momentum, not force speed Once you’re moving fast, your job isn’t to push harder. It’s to STOP braking. Relax the jaw, keep the hips tall, let the stride cycle. Speed maintenance beats forced acceleration every time. This one was a big one for me. 3.I attacked the curve with posture, not aggression Leaning and muscling the bend kills your rhythm. Think hips forward, inside shoulder quiet, outside leg stiff. Flow AROUND the curve, don’t fight it. 4.I saved one gear for the last 80 meters. Most athletes are already empty here. If you arrive composed instead of destroyed, you pass people who are tying up. This is where races are actually won. This one is key🤫🔑 5.I treated relaxation as a skill, not a feeling Anyone can look relaxed at 70%. Staying relaxed at race pace is TRAINED. Fast arms, loose face, controlled breathing. Calm body = free speed. Just like me in the video above😉 If I understood this earlier, I would’ve dropped huge time way sooner. The 200 and 400 don’t reward the toughest runner… They reward the most efficient one. #trackandfield #trackandfieldlife #tracknation #runningtips #400meter
