The difference between PTSD and CPTSD PTSD is a singular acute event that overwhelms a persons ability to cope causing their brain to shift into survival mode, with the amygdala (threat detection system) becoming overactive while areas responsible for safety and reasoning struggle to regulate fear. This can lead to flashbacks, hypervigilance, avoidance, and intense physiological stress responses. It’s as if the nervous system keeps reacting to a danger that has already passed. CPTSD develops from prolonged or repeated trauma, often occurring within relationships where escape wasn’t possible — such as chronic abuse, neglect, or ongoing emotional harm. Instead of one overwhelming moment, the nervous system adapts to long-term danger, reshaping how a person sees themselves, others, and the world. Just like the piece of paper their identity is molded and slowly chipped away until they don’t recognize themselves. The trauma becomes woven into identity and attachment patterns The difference is that PTSD is sudden while CPTSD is from failures in systems Share to your story if this resonated 🔁 Follow for more ❤️‍🩹 @djweeks_ #cptsd #complextrauma #ptsd #cptsdawareness #traumainformed

Anxious attachment is an attachment pattern rooted in early experiences where care, affection, or emotional availability felt inconsistent or unpredictable. When a child grows up unsure of when love or safety will be present, their nervous system learns to stay alert. This often carries into adulthood as a deep fear of abandonment, heightened sensitivity to changes in tone or distance, and an intense need for reassurance in close relationships. Small shifts like delayed replies, silence, or emotional withdrawal can feel overwhelming and threatening, even when no harm is intended. People with anxious attachment tend to crave closeness while simultaneously fearing loss. They may overthink interactions, seek constant validation, or struggle with trusting that relationships are stable. This is not a flaw or a lack of self control. It is an adaptive response shaped by early relational uncertainty. The brain learns that connection must be monitored closely to avoid pain, leading to hypervigilance, emotional intensity, and cycles of worry and reassurance seeking. Healing anxious attachment involves developing emotional safety both internally and within relationships. With awareness, therapy, and consistent experiences of secure connection, the nervous system can slowly relearn that closeness does not always lead to loss. Over time, people with anxious attachment can build healthier boundaries, regulate emotional responses, and experience relationships with greater trust and stability. Anxious attachment is not who someone is, but a pattern they learned and one that can be unlearned with compassion and support. Hyper-independence is often a trauma response masquerading as a personality trait. 🛡 When you see a man who refuses to lean on anyone, understand that his "strength" wasn’t built by choice, but by necessity. He is the man who, as a young boy, looked around for a rescue that never arrived. He learned to silence his needs because there was no one to hear them. Today, his silence isn’t arrogance; it’s a legacy of self-reliance. He doesn’t ask for help because, in his internal blueprint, "help" is a foreign concept—a liability he can’t afford. Breaking that wall requires more than just kindness; it requires the kind of consistent safety that proves, for the first time, he doesn’t have to be his own only hero. #HyperIndependence #InnerChildHealing #MensMentalHealth #TraumaInformed #BreakingTheSilence

The moment you finally feel safe is the moment you realize how unsafe everything was before. You spend years normalizing what you grew up with. The yelling was just how your family communicated. The emotional unpredictability was just your mom having a bad day. You tell yourself everyone's childhood was like this. Then one day your nervous system downregulates enough for you to actually see it clearly. The chaos you survived was not normal. The things you had to do to stay safe should never have been asked of a child. The patterns you learned to keep the peace were survival strategies for an environment that was breaking you. This realization hits HARD. You feel grief for the kid you were who thought all of that was normal. You feel rage at the adults who made you believe their dysfunction was your responsibility to manage. You feel lost because so much of who you became was built around surviving a version of love that was actually harm. Breaking generational trauma means sitting with all of this. It means refusing to pass the same patterns to your kids even when those patterns feel automatic. It means doing the work to heal what was done to you so you stop repeating it. You can break the cycle. Ready to do that work? Comment I WANT THAT and I'll DM you about 1:1 support. This is one of the most important reframes in trauma work. Not just for clients, but for how clinicians conceptualize the problem. When we locate trauma in the event, we miss the person. Two people can go through the same thing. One develops PTSD and the other doesn’t. What made the difference was the capacity of the nervous system to process, contain, and integrate what happened. That capacity is shaped by so many things: early attachment, prior trauma history, the presence of protective relationships, cultural context, & biological predisposition. It’s not a character flaw. Save this. Share it with a client or colleague who needs this reframe today. #traumarecovery #traumainformed #gabormate #mentalhealth #traumatherapy

Last year, I was going through a really tough patch. I genuinely believed I might never reach my goals. I was doing all the right things, but something kept holding me back. My therapist listened and told me about something they called the “Visibility Tax” It completely changed the way I show up. It is the cost you pay when you keep waiting to feel safer before you let yourself be seen. When you do not say the thing because people might judge. When you stay quiet because your voice does not feel important enough. When you tell yourself you will share it one day, when you are calmer, clearer, more confident. You do not feel the cost straight away. It feels sensible. Protective. But it shows up later. As resentment. As regret. As the quiet feeling that you abandoned yourself just to stay liked. Visibility is not about being fearless. It is about choosing which cost you are willing to pay. Staying quiet. Or being seen. If this made you pause, you are probably just done paying the Visibility Tax. The key is learning to feel those uncomfortable moments, the fear, the exposure, the wobble, and knowing they are temporary. That you can handle them because they pass. And that is usually when life starts to expand, without self sabotage. On this account, I share: -posing that actually translates on camera -nervous system tools for real presence -practical ways to feel confident without forcing it Follow along if visibility has felt harder than it should. Controversial but TRUE: The “Good Indian Daughter” conditioning is making you sick. After years of treating Indian women, I see the same pattern: 👉 PCOS, thyroid issues, autoimmune disease, chronic fatigue And when we dig deeper? It’s not genetics. It’s CULTURAL TRAUMA. You were raised to: - Put everyone else first - Silence your needs - Swallow your anger - Shrink your voice - Sacrifice endlessly And your body? It’s been keeping the score. Your illness isn’t a curse. It’s your body’s LAST ATTEMPT to make you stop. Healing means becoming the “bad” daughter: ✓ The one who says no ✓ The one who chooses herself ✓ The one who uses her voice ✓ The one who sets boundaries Because the “good” one is literally destroying you. 💚 Ready to heal the cultural trauma? For my fellow overthinkers👇 Most people who see what I’ve accomplished, would NEVER assume I’m afraid of risk…as I had to take a sh!t ton of risk to have the success + millionaire lifestyle I live today. I’m not your typical entrepreneur, I’m type-C and have complex PTSD from growing up in a severely abusive household, with a narcissist as a mom. Doing new scary things feels so dangerous to my nervous system. I get all of those racing thoughts: 💭 What if this doesn’t work and I waste all of this time and money ? 💭 What bad things will happen taking my podcast to even a bigger level of visibility? 💭 What if I fail and lose everything I have? So I have all of these fears and resistances too, but though years of trauma informed work + spiritual manifestation practices + somatic healing + 1000 years of therapy & meds 💊 I show up regardless for the greater good of the people (YOU) I’m meant to serve and for my self & the abundant life I deserve. > My podcast being top 5 in 57 counties 🎙️ ProjectME with Tiffany Carter > The millions now stacked in my accounts > My two homes + the homes I help build for women & children who have been trafficked > The millions of people I’ve helped all over the globe heal their relationship with money, while showing them how to create their own wealth. NONE OF THIS WOULD BE POSSIBLE without me taking the scary risks WHILE filled with uncertainty. There’s no way around it. I’ve created a special community inside my ProjectME Posse Business & Money coaching membership where you get to express your fear & have the expert guidance + accountability to follow thru and take action on repeat. comment POSSE & I’ll DM you the sign up details…we have some new member spots open right now for you. 🔥🐎 IT’S TIME TO SHOW UP AT A NEW LEVEL. . . #overthinker #femalebusinessowner #wealthmindset #traumainformed #faceyourfears

PTSD isn’t a choice, it’s a biological survival mechanism that doesn’t know how to turn off. 🧠⚡️ When the brain experiences trauma, the amygdala stays on high alert, even when the danger is long gone. This is why triggers feel like reliving the event rather than just remembering it. Your nervous system often isn’t responding to this moment. It’s responding to a memory of danger that didn’t start with you. That email? That phone call? That knock at the door? Your body reads it like a war alarm; not because you’re broken, dramatic, or “bad at regulating,” but because 7 to 14 generations before you learned that sudden demands meant loss, threat, or survival consequences, and you carry that in the expression of your DNA (Epigenetics). So you try to regulate. And regulate again. And the more you regulate, the more you realise how dysregulated you actually are. That’s not failure. That’s a misidentified root cause. You don’t heal this by calming the surface. You heal it by teaching your nervous system that the danger is over - at the source. In a free Shift session, we identify: • the generational pattern your body is responding to • your dominant nervous system state • and why “normal life” feels unsafe even when nothing is wrong • and you leave with a personalised Generational Healing Blueprint to keep. So regulation finally works… because it’s working with your system, not against it. If this landed in your body before it landed in your mind, comment SHIFT for an information link, for your next step. #cyclebreakers #generationaltrauma #nervoussystemregulation #traumainformed #ancestralhealing
