Go touch a tree - Here’s why it will make you feel better… We tend to think of “grounding”or “earthing” as only going barefoot, but we can also feel the benefits by physically connecting with a tree. It’s one of the simplest (and fastest) ways to feel good - for free! No pills or equipment required to help lower the stress hormone cortisol. Studies show that being “grounded” also reduces inflammation - one on the key accelerators of ageing. I’ve referenced one of the most robust studies below. Tree-hugging as a pro-ageing technique? Why not try today - join me in the great outdoors and see just how good trees make you feel 🌳 Feel free to share your touchy-tree tips and experiences - love to hear 👇🏼LX Study: Chevalier, G., Sinatra, S. T., Oschman, J. L., Delany, R. M., & Menigoz, W. (2015). Grounding improves inflammation and blood flow—A randomized, double-blind, pilot study. Just call me a tree hugger 🥰 Trees can help calm the nervous system and personally I love trees and hugging a tree 🙋‍♀️. Research on forest bathing has found lower cortisol, heart rate, and blood pressure, along with more parasympathetic “rest and digest” activity when people spend time in forest environments. 🌳Trees also release phytoncides, natural protective compounds that may be part of that calming effect. So while hugging a tree itself is not the main thing being studied, time with trees can genuinely help bring the body out of fight-or-flight. Sometimes healing really can begin with a breath, a pause, and a tree on your daily walk #treehugger #lifecoach #mindfulness #nervoussystemreset

The Orgins of the term ‘tree hugger’ 🌳 — Happy Earth Month! 🌎 The phrase originated in the 1970s when environmental activists in India, known as the Chipko Movement, literally hugged trees to prevent them from being cut down. Their peaceful protest inspired global awareness about the importance of nature conservation. Over time, the term evolved into a symbol of environmental dedication- and if you’re passionate about saving our planet, you might just be a ‘climate queen’ too! Let’s continue to protect and love our Earth. 🩵 #earthmonth #treehugger #climate #greengirl #nature #happyearthmonth

When I do walking meditation, I often stop and hug one of the trees, breathing in and out. It’s very nourishing. The tree gives me strength, and it always seems to me that the tree responds to my hugging and breathing. When we hug, our hearts connect and we know that we are not seperate beings.” —Thich Nhat Hanh . music by @jossjaffe . . . #earthing #treehugger #naturelover #motherearth #jossjaffemusic #kayyuen #podcast #spiritualitywithkayyuen #spirituality #thichnhathanhquotes #meditationmusic

Maybe it’s time to stop using the phrase “Mother Nature”. Maybe instead, it’s time to start saying Child Earth. Because while our natural world does nurture us and is responsible for every breath of air in our lungs, it is vulnerable and fragile, like a child. We have been good at using our Mother Nature, depending on her for resources and twisting her to our benefit. But we have forgotten our Child. Our Child Earth has been neglected and abused, and it lives in fear. You can see it in the way deep ocean life washes ashore, in the migration of wildlife to higher elevations, in the brown fur of an Arctic fox who wasn’t ready for the early winter. Our Child is speaking to us, crying out for help, and it’s time we start listening. The circle of life is not just about the food chain that we so proudly sit atop of. It’s also a cycle of care and nurture, of give and take. Each element in the circle of life has a duty, and like the links in a chain necklace, each is connected and beholden to the other. You cannot be the top of a circle, but you can be the link that strengthens the entire chain. When the chain breaks, so do we. So does our Child Earth. What can you do, as one of the caretakers of Child Earth? This Earth Day, think about that question. Whether it’s donating to an environmental organization or simply saying “thank you” to a tree, every action counts, because it’s not really about the size of the action. It’s about the mindset. It’s about acknowledging your Child Earth, and refusing to turn your back on it. It’s about simply loving your Child.

A friend mentioned that hugging a tree (or standing exactly 7 inches away!) has benefits at a cellular level. I’m not a scientist, but I am a student of my own body and my own peace. So, I found this massive oak and just... leaned in. Science says trees release phytoncides that boost our immune systems and lower our stress hormones. But honestly? My favorite “LL” (Lesson Learned) today was that even in a world of variables, nature remains a constant. I might have looked a little weird to the couple walking by, but my cells are happy, my heart is calm, and I’m still the constant in my own journey. When was the last time you actually touched nature? Drop a 🌳 if you’re brave enough to hug the next tree you see! . . . #TheConstant #NatureHeals #SelfLove #TreeHugger #Jerceemee
