Dijo: “James era una persona fantástica. Lo llamamos el hermano de otra madre. Y fue genial tocar con él y fue fantástico. Pero cuando empezaba a luchar con sus fantasmas, era difícil. Tuvimos que enviarlo a [la isla de Antigua al centro de tratamiento de drogas y alcohol Crossroads de Eric Clapton]. En entrevista con el programa "Trunk Nation With @eddietrunk", el guitarrista reveló detalles del esperado reencuentro que ocurrió al pasado sábado en Birmingham, el primero con Bill Ward en 20 años.
“Ha sido estresante estos últimos meses, pensando en todo esto. Y aunque llevábamos un mes ensayando, nunca sabes qué va a pasar hasta el día del show. No habíamos tocado en un gran escenario con Bill en dos décadas”, confesó Iommi.
Tony reveló que originalmente habían preparado entre seis y siete canciones. La duración se vio recortada por varias razones, incluyendo el estado físico de Bill y la salud de Ozzy Osbourne, quien interpretó un set con su banda solista antes de subir de nuevo con SABBATH.
“Estábamos preparados para tocar más, pero había un límite de tiempo estricto en Villa Park. Además, no quería que Ozzy se quemara haciendo dos sets. Aun así, hizo su parte y regresó con nosotros. Fue increíble”, explicó Tony.
La reunión fue significativa para los fans, especialmente por el regreso de Ward, ausente de los escenarios con SABBATH desde 2005. Iommi habló con humor sobre los ensayos y el inconfundible carácter de su compañero de banda.
“Bill siempre ha sido el mismo. En los ensayos se quitó la camiseta y Geezer estaba por comerse un sándwich y le gritó: ‘¡Bill, ponte la camiseta, me estás quitando el apetito!’”, recordó entre risas.
Aunque el guitarrista admitió que ni Ozzy ni Bill estuvieron técnicamente perfectos, resaltó que el público entendió las circunstancias.
“No puedes esperar perfección de todos. Estamos en nuestros setenta. Pero hicieron lo que podían, y el público lo aceptó. No esperaban que sonáramos como en 1970. Tocamos como somos ahora”, dijo en la entrevista que se transmitió a través de SiriusXM.

TONo último dia 13 King apareceu no programa “Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk”, da SiriusXM, e não se desviou de perguntas sobre os compromissos firmados com o Slayer, deixando claro que sua prioridade (ao menos no momento) é sua própria banda.
“Nós (Slayer) temos recusado ofertas (de reunião) nos últimos quatro anos. Infelizmente, quando surgiu a oferta certa, essa estava certa, pois meu projeto estava sendo lançado. Então, certamene há pessoas, como minha gerência e agentes de reservas, que dizem: ‘Isso é ótimo. Vai impulsionar seu lance solo”, disse King.
“Toda vez que falo sobre isso para jornalistas, revistas e outras coisas, eu digo: ‘Ouça, o Slayer não vai fazer outro disco. O Slayer nunca mais vai fazer turnê”, afirmou. “O Slayer pode fazer algo isolado aqui ou ali? Talvez."
