Species: πΊπππ ππ ππππ π π. "Sunshine" / "Lemon" is a species of small semi-terrestrial crabs (not fully aquatic) native to Java, Indonesia. Average size of species can reach 4-5 cm. across the leg span. Their carapace (shell width) is about 2-2.5 cm wide.
Most of #Geosesarma species live in tropical forests near freshwater streams. It spends most of its time on land, but also often submerges in freshwater, including when it molts. Their common name is #VampireCrabs. This has nothing to do with their feeding habits but it's a marketing strategy + The first discovered species has glowing yellow eyes and pattern on the back that have a βBat-likeβ shape.
#VampireCrab is an omnivorous scavenger and an opportunistic hunter on occasion. Itβs communal with its own species but often aggressive with other types of crabs, including other vampire crab species or even the same species for territory. Vampire crabs are nocturnal and shy with average lifespan of 1-2 years or little more.
Crabs are lacking the ability to blink, crab eyes must be kept clean and free of algae, debris, and parasites. Besides molting, crabs will often cleaning their eyes by using theirs chelipeds (Claws) or their maxillipeds to make sure their eyes are clean.
Note: When new crabs get used to new enclosure they will start attack each others for territory and mating. My suggestions:
* Provide hiding place as many as possible.
* Keep only a species for each enclosure. Ratio: 1 male / 2-3 females or more than this if you have large enough tank.
