MRThis bar graph shows how different materials absorb light. Common materials like polished steel absorb very little light, while matte black paint absorbs much more. Carbon black absorbs around 95-97% of light. In contrast, Vantablack absorbs 99.9% of incoming light, towering above all other materials on the graph.

It’s an H. Moser Endeavor Tourbillon Concept Vantablack.
Quite a bit to unpack here, but I’m on assignment for @crownandcaliber so I gotta come strapped. Second, Vantablack is the second darkest thing in the universe after black holes. Black holes trap 100% of light, whereas the squillions of carbon nanotubes that make up this here dial only trap 99.965% of the photons that enter. Makes the hands POP.
And of course it’s got the least needed complication of any wristwatch, a tourbillon. Least needed because a tourbillon counters the effects of gravity on a stationary escapement. Wristwatches move around a bunch, so it’s literally not needed. Still, looks and sounds pretty neat.
In truth, I don’t think this particular H.Moser is very me. I’m more of the Streamliner type. That said, if I took this Endeavor off the crocodile and stuck it on a rubber strap… maybe just maybe. Of course, I’d need $88K. Plus a rubber strap.

TEVantablack is a coating made from vertically aligned carbon nanotubes that trap incoming light instead of reflecting it. When light enters the structure, it bounces between the nanotubes and is almost entirely absorbed as heat, which is why the surface appears extremely dark. Developed by Surrey NanoSystems, it was originally designed for scientific and aerospace use, where minimizing stray light is critical for accurate measurements and imaging.
