Without these foundations, velocity training creates compensation—not performance. Speed doesn’t break athletes. Lack of preparation does. Here’s the exact transcription you requested: ⸻ Velocity Training 101 Number one, if it’s not inside the strike zone, it doesn’t matter. We don’t count it. The goal of velocity training is that it’s going to transfer to the mound. And how you do that is by training on the mound. You want to get acclimated to moving down the mound and being able to use the slope to your advantage because that’s where velocity is created. Velocity is created on how you sequence your body moving down the mound, not afterwards. It’s how you move down the mound that matters most because velocity isn’t created by the arm. The arm is the last link in the chain. It doesn’t generate force. It only accepts and transfers it. So everything that happens before the arm is what leads to higher, safer velocity. So how we do this using a Core Velocity Belt is we’ll blend this from the black — or from the blue heavy — to the black lighter to no cord, and we’ll just change up hips. We’re going to overload and underload the hips. UNLESS the pitch is LOCATED IN THE STRIKE ZONE… we do not count it as velocity. Next time, focus on how far you can throw with minimal effort. This can help keep your body loose and athletic and can help sync the timing and sequencing of your throwing motion. After you’ve worked up to near maximum throwing distance, come back in and throw some fastballs on a line, aka “pulldowns.” Your pulldown velocity should be roughly 3 mph higher than what you throw on the mound.
