TH@MusicHallOfWB Austin, TX indie pop band @Voxtrot_ATX returned to the venue where I first saw them in 2007, on the last week of touring for their réunion LP Dreamers in Exile, which matches the excellence of their sparkling early EPs and sole previous eponymous 2007 LP of songs by lead singer-songwriter @RameshInSpace that were heralded by the mid-2000s music blog scene.
Voxtrot played a tight, rousing set of material from almost all of their releases, including the entirety of masterful 2005 debut EP Raised by Wolves, whose title track, included here in an extended clip, is a personal fave that captures the careening confusion of misdirected young love with raw honesty and rhythmic punch.

I got hear Mothers, Sisters, Daughters & Wives live, after many years of playing it on repeat! So lucky to have this band reunited and with an incredible new album out!

RUVoxtrot volvieron a estar juntos para una gira de reunión el año pasado y ahora lanzaron “Another Fire”, su primer sencillo nuevo en 14 años. Escuchalo a continuación.
“Another Fire” es el primer avance de las sesiones de Voxtrot en Lockhart, Texas, donde los cinco miembros originales, Ramesh Srivastava, Jason Chronis, Matt Simon, Mitch Calvert y Jared Van Fleet, se reunieron a principios de 2023 para una sesión de grabación. Una canción de pop rock lleno de vida, que presenta la voz altísima de Srivastava mientras canta: “Y no, nunca supiste cómo la vida humana podría cambiarte/ En algo más, solo hambriento de matar/ Eres el único héroe verdadero/ Bailando en el belleza de otro fuego, otro fuego, otro fuego”.

Srivastava habló sobre el impulso de su reunión el año pasado. «Tuve un sueño en el que estábamos en el escenario y fue realmente positivo«, dijo. “Había un sentimiento de amor tan fuerte y palpable en mi corazón que cuando desperté, todavía estaba conmigo. Encendí mi teléfono y comencé a mirar cosas etiquetadas con ‘Voxtrot’ en las redes sociales (adolescentes versionando nuestras canciones, personas con tatuajes de Voxtrot) y entré en esta madriguera de Internet que me hizo darme cuenta de cuánto amor todavía hay por la banda. Por primera vez desde que rompimos, parecía muy, muy obvio que debíamos hacer esto”.
Desde que se reunieron, Voxtrot ha compartido un par de EP de archivo: Early Music y Cut from the Stone: Rarities & B-Sides. La última colección incluye la canción inédita «Kindergarten«.
