Dukka Uma Shankar was engaged to 17-year-old
Pavitra, with their wedding planned for Sankranti
2026. The couple and their families had agreed to
the marriage, and Pavitra’s family even travelled to
Vijayawada for a temple visit shortly before the
incident. But beneath the surface, tensions were
brewing - Pavitra’s family had begun to have second
thoughts because Shankar was reportedly an
alcoholic, and she had questioned his behaviour
