FLFour years ago today, I walked into a hospital not knowing what was waiting for me on the other side.
I just knew I couldn’t keep living the way I was living.
December 28th isn’t just an anniversary to me.
As my mom says it’s my birthday. The day my life changed forever.
I had no idea how good life could actually be.
I had no idea how much I had been suffering until I wasn’t anymore.
And I had no idea that one decision would change everything not just my body, but my mind, my family, and the way I move through this world.
Bariatric surgery didn’t fix my life.
But it gave me the chance to have one.
It gave me energy.
It gave me presence.
It gave me years I didn’t even realize I was losing.
So yes every year I celebrate with cake and candles.
Not because it’s easy now.
Not because the journey ended.
But because I chose myself.
And that choice changed everything.
If you’re standing on the edge of a decision that feels terrifying, I just want you to know life on the other side can be so much more beautiful than you ever imagined.

But here’s the truth no one wants to say out loud 👇
A LOT of bariatric bodies will never tolerate dense, dry textures the same way again.
Steak.
Dry chicken breast.
Turkey.
Raw broccoli.
And when you’re exercising? Lifting? Trying to build muscle?
You cannot survive on 3 bites of chicken and call it a day.
If you’re only getting in tiny nibbles of dense protein, you are at serious risk for:
• Undereating
• Chronic fatigue
• Hair loss
• Hormone disruption
• And yes… sarcopenia (muscle loss)
You have to PLAY THE TEXTURE GAME.
That means:
✔️ Soft proteins
✔️ Moist meals
✔️ High-calorie density without high volume
✔️ Easy-to-digest options
Think:
• Greek yogurt
• Cottage cheese
• Eggs
• Ground meats with sauce
• Slow-cooked shredded chicken
• Protein shakes
• Ricotta bowls
• Soft fish
• Soups & stews
• Oatmeal with protein
If you’re training and trying to build muscle, your body needs fuel. And if dense textures make you miserable, you will subconsciously under-eat.
Stop forcing dry steak because someone told you that’s what “real protein” looks like.
Play the texture game.
Hit your calories.
Hit your protein.

DR“Ozempic face” is a misnomer. What we’re really seeing is facial fat pad loss, which can happen with any significant weight loss. With the use of GLP-1 medications on the rise, many people are now experiencing changes in facial volume. Similar changes can also occur with extreme dieting, intense exercise, illness, or weight loss surgery such as gastric bypass.
When facial fat pads are lost, there is volume loss and the overlying skin loses support, which can lead to sagging.
Treatment depends on what has changed and may include biostimulators, dermal fillers, energy-based devices, or surgery in cases of moderate to severe skin laxity.
In the video, I used the term “skin tightening.” A more accurate term is collagen induction, which improves skin tone and skin quality rather than truly tightening skin.
The key is proper assessment and choosing the right treatment for the underlying cause.
