FAMaryland Gov. Wes Moore said the state is stepping in to ensure food and heating aid continues despite the ongoing government shutdown, criticizing the Trump administration for providing unclear guidance and creating “intentional chaos” that leaves residents at risk of going hungry.
“We now received guidance saying the states are going to be punished for fronting the money,” Moore told @marg_brennan. “There is a chaos, and it is an intentional chaos that we are seeing from this administration and where they have money for everything. They have money to fight wars. They got money for ballrooms. They got money for everything, but when it comes to supporting the American people, that's now when they are crying, well, we are broke and that's not what the law requires us to do.”
The White House has said sponsorships for the East Wing ballroom are separate from government money.
