ARGrowing closer to God often has less to do with what we add and more to do with what we’re willing to release.
Worry is one of the biggest things that keeps us stuck. Anxiety doesn’t come from God—it pulls our focus away from His promises and onto our fears. Scripture reminds us that when we bring our worries to God with prayer and thanksgiving, His peace guards our hearts and minds.
The way we speak to ourselves matters more than we realize. Negative self-talk can quietly shape how we see God, ourselves, and our future. When we speak words of defeat or shame, we’re agreeing with lies instead of the truth God speaks over us. Choosing to speak life aligns our hearts with His Word.
Fear is another barrier that keeps us from growing in faith. God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind. Fear keeps us frozen, but faith invites us to trust God even when we don’t see the full picture.
People-pleasing can also pull us away from God’s best. When approval from others becomes our focus, obedience to God can slowly take a back seat. True freedom comes when we care more about honoring God than being liked by people.
Growing closer to God isn’t about perfection or piling on more rules. It’s about letting go of the things that weigh us down, learning to trust Him more deeply, and allowing Him to shape our hearts from the inside out.

This little alligator is a true survivor.
Jawlene was found in the wild here in Florida missing her top jaw. We don’t know exactly how it happened — it could’ve been a boat propeller, it could’ve been another animal — but what we do know is that she never gave up.
Now she’s living in alligator paradise at Gatorland, where she’ll be cared for and protected for her entire life. With expert care, enrichment, and lots of love, Jawlene is absolutely thriving. 💪✨
She’s proof that alligators are incredibly resilient… and that every animal deserves a second chance.
