THCat Licking Milk Churn. Musical automaton by R&D c.1950, Paris. Just off the workbench following a quite tricky restoration of the mechanism and tongue action. We have done a few of these but this cat is the cream of the crop for feline character. The papier-mâché Rabbit mask was used in the classic film ‘The Wicker Man’ hired from the 1960s prop house Ken Paul. That’s enough facts!

SEIt was an incredible Wickerman Gathering at Eamhain Mhacha (Navan Fort). Just want to give heartfelt thank you to @navancentrefort and everyone involved. Willow weaver Heather McDermott, who led the team in crafting the massive wicker effigy created an amazing willow figure. As the effigy burned, it was like their head took a bow and their arm moved almost like a gesture acknowledging the crowd.
As it burnt, the air was full with chants of "All hail Lugh!" and underneath the loud shouts were echoes of iconic lines from the 1973 film The Wicker Man, like "Summer is icumen in, loudly sing cuckoo!" and "It is time to keep your appointment with the Wicker Man."
Go raibh maith agat to the very talented artists, herbalists, face painters, visionaries and crafters there. And everyone who stopped by my stall to chat.
