Only 5 minutes from Point Samson and 50 kms from Karratha is Cossack, a small costal country town that most tourists cruise past when they are in the Pilbara.
Why is it worth the visit?
🔴 The free/low-cost camps (Settler’s Beach Cossack on Wiki) are perched right on the beach and only 8kms to Wickham which has all your essentials and services (Woolies etc).
🔴 You can hire and launch a boat not far from the low-cost/free campgrounds
🔴 Plenty of turtles crusing the inlet
🔴 Great spot for kayak fishing (water is very clear to spot the fish)
🔴 You can watch the Staircase to the Moon at the Settler’s Beach look out
🔴 There is a cute cafe for brewed coffe open Wednesday - Sunday
🔴 The Cossack Art Award is the largest rural art show in Australia (mid-July to August) and there is a real vibe at this time of year
🔴 There are historical buildings and a heritage trail for those history buffs
