SYI still remember being on the phone with my mom in 2019 during my first news job in Augusta, GA, overwhelmed and unsure of what was ahead. There were hard days—days I’d call my grandpa, who is strong-minded and reminded me with love to toughen up and keep going. Now, four years at my current station in North Carolina, I look back with gratitude. It wasn’t easy, but God made a way through hard work, growth, and grace. I pray my journey encourages someone else to keep pressing forward—even when it’s hard.
And today, I have peace—because I know He’s still writing my story and any outcome is in His hands.
“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” – Galatians 6:9
To the young person chasing their dream:
1. Keep showing up—even on the days you don’t feel seen.
2. Don’t be afraid to ask for help. The strongest people lean on someone.
3. Trust God with the timing. His pace is preparation, not punishment.
