KEI haven’t stopped thinking about this since I heard it because it kind of unlocked something for me…
I think sometimes when I’m writing, I’m so aware of the story — the arc, the pacing, the tone — that I forget my characters don’t know any of that. They’re not thinking “this is the dramatic moment” or “this is where everything changes.” They’re just… in it. Living it. Reacting in REALL time!!
And I feel like the second I shift into that mindset, everything gets better. The dialogue, the choices, the tension all feels more real because I’m not trying to make it a story, I’m just letting it be a life??
Which is harder?? But also better?? Do these sentences make sense???

THThe timing of your life is never wrong. Sometimes there are things in life that you want soo bad : a job, a person, a relationship or a certain outcome — that we completely forget that we have zero control over what happens. All the anxiety that you build up trying to make something play out almost never actually happens according to plan. These are the fantasies and stories that we create in our minds to escape living in the real world.
Of course, the idea of simply letting things be is extremely terrifying, especially for a control freak like me. But you’ve got to peace with the fact that no matter how much you try to gain control of a circumstance, the outcome will never be what your wildest imaginations predict. But that does not have to be a bad thing.
The unpredictability of life can drive you crazy but can also bring you to some of your happiest moments in life. ❤️

📌 I’m a big fan of How I Met Your Mother. However, I could never see/imagine Ted&Robin as endgame. I’ve always felt Robin and Barney were a more better suited couple and Ted’s soulmate had to be Tracy. But the writers had planned some other plans. I agree that the ending is pretty controversial. But regardless of the ending, there are a thousands of beautiful things about HIMYM which I admire. People tend to focus on the end and lose the overall beauty of the show. But trust me — It is absolutely beautiful. 🤍
