We captured moments from the month-long takeover by @olaoluslawn at @saatchiyates Slawn moved his whole working studio into the gallery. With a skate ramp and a recording studio, the space felt like a modern Warhol Factory. It had a punk aesthetic and that raw 90s YBA energy but felt much more inclusive. This is where art, music and space come together. Creative work is rarely just one thing. It moves between art, design, fashion and music. In “Slawn Studio,” the artist took this further by putting a real recording studio inside the exhibition. Music was part of the art’s DNA. The studio was a real part of his work. It closed the gap between making art and showing it. This approach is how creative work feels today: full of different skills, focused on the process and very much alive.
