WOMeet Sheila, a Woodson YMCA member whose journey started with one invitation.
After a friend encouraged her to attend a free Personal Training preview session at the Y, Sheila connected with personal trainer Shelby — and that moment changed everything. Following knee and shoulder surgeries, Sheila was at a place where even walking a mile felt out of reach. With Shelby’s guidance, encouragement, and support, she began rebuilding her strength one step at a time.
Today, Sheila is lifting weights right alongside the rest of our Wellness Center community at the Woodson YMCA. Along the way, she found so much more than fitness. She found a welcoming space filled with outgoing, friendly people who offer tips, encouragement, and genuine friendship. Sheila also loves the walking track during the winter, where she stays active and connects with friends she may never have met if it wasn’t for the Y.
