Eindrücke der ausverkauften YANUNI-Premiere in Wien 🎬 Das Gartenbaukino war bis auf den letzten Platz gefüllt – das ist kein Wunder, feierten wir ja nicht nur die Wien-Premiere von YANUNI, sondern gleichzeitig auch die Eröffnung des diesjährigen Cine Latino Festivals. Wir hatten die große Ehre, Bundespräsident Alexander Van der Bellen und First Lady Doris Schmidauer, die Nationalratsabgeordneten Alma Zadić und Leonore Gewessler, Peter Schernhuber vom BMWKMS sowie die Botschafter:innen aus Kolumbien, Chile, Brasilien, Peru, Mexiko, der Dominikanischen Republik, Panama, Costa Rica und Argentinien begrüßen zu dürfen. Ein besonderer Dank gilt auch Iris Zappe-Heller & Werner Zappe vom Österreichischen Filminstitut (ÖFI) sowie den Teams von Polyfilm, Blautöne, Vienna-FX, der Synchronstage und Malaika Pictures. Es hat uns viel bedeutet, dass so viele Mitglieder unserer Crew anwesend waren, um diesen besonderen Moment mit uns zu feiern. Vielen Dank an euch alle fürs Kommen, für eure Unterstützung und dafür, dass ihr diesen Abend so besonders gemacht habt.

Esta noche en el Gartenbaukino tuve la oportunidad de ver Yanuni, una película que no solo se proyecta, sino que se siente. Yanuni nos invita a entrar en un territorio íntimo, donde las emociones se construyen con sutileza y cada silencio tiene peso. Es de esas historias que no buscan imponerse, sino quedarse contigo, poco a poco, incluso después de que las luces se encienden. La sala, con su energía contenida, acompañó perfectamente la proyección. Hubo momentos de absoluta quietud, de esos en los que se percibe que todos estamos conectados a la misma emoción. Y como si la noche ya no tuviera suficiente magia, también tuve la oportunidad de saludar al presidente de Austria, Alexander Van der Bellen, un instante breve pero memorable que quedó como parte de esta experiencia tan especial. Salir del cine con esa sensación —como si algo se hubiese movido por dentro— es, quizás, una de las razones por las que seguimos yendo al cine. Porque hay películas que no terminan en la pantalla… continúan en nosotros. 🎬✨

The powerful story of @juma_xipaia’s fight to protect the forest and cultures of the Brazilian Amazon is one the world needs to know. When Juma Xipaia was just a teenager, she stood in front of a television camera somewhere in the Brazilian Amazon and said, “My life will be a struggle. I’m going to fight for my people.” The video is low resolution, and the sound is barely audible. But the conviction in her voice has not lost its strength. She has survived six assassination attempts and was elected the first female chief of the Middle Xingu. She is also the protagonist of one of the most unusual films ever screened at a film festival’s closing: Yanuni, by Richard Ladkani. However, calling her a protagonist would be a misunderstanding. She is not acting or performing; she is living.
