The ego shows up in everything, including yoga. Here’s a few sneaky ways your ego can be showing up in your yoga practice. 🔥Comparing yourself to the student next to you. You have no idea how long the student next to you has been practicing yoga. Comparing your chapter 2 to someone else’s chapter 10 isn’t helping anyone. 🔥Doing “advanced” poses in the warm up. There is no reason to do full splits or wheel in the warm up. Honor all parts of yoga asana. 🔥Skipping Savasana. The ego doesn’t want you to honor the deep rest that comes at the end of your practice. 🔥Not taking a water break if you need one. Your ego wants you to be the best, and never needing any rest. Your ego wants you to feel superior to everyone else. Take the water break before you pass out. 🔥 Breathing so loudly everyone in the room can hear you. There is a difference between Ujjayi Breath and performative breathing. 🔥Not learning the basics before learning to handstand. I see it everyday, students wanting to learn handstands, but still struggle with basic alignment and breath control during their Surya Namaskar. 🔥Having to wear brand name yoga sets, or having a new mat every month. The ego loves status. The ego wants you to have name brands and new equipment. Those things are completely unnecessary. #ego #yoga #yogateacher #yogadaily
