Die vielfach ausgezeichnete Schauspielerin @verena_altenberger verstärkt ab heute das Welternährungsprogramm der Vereinten Nationen (WFP) @worldfoodprogramme im Kampf gegen den Hunger. Als High-Level Supporterin setzt sie sich besonders für Frauen ein, die weltweit an vorderster Front der Ernährungskrise stehen.
In Uganda hat Verena unsere Hilfsprogramme besucht, wo sie geflüchtete Frauen und lokale Kleinbäuerinnen traf.
„Ich habe Frauen und Kinder aus dem Sudan kennengelernt, die alles verloren haben und nur mit der Kleidung, die sie am Körper trugen, vor Krieg, Gewalt und Hunger geflohen sind. Viele ugandische Kleinbäuerinnen leben selbst unter der Armutsgrenze und teilen trotzdem das Wenige, das sie haben. Dieser Zusammenhalt ist berührend und lehrreich. Wenn wir diese Frauen stärken, stärken wir ganze Gemeinschaften und Regionen.“
In einer Welt, in der 343 Millionen Menschen unter akutem Hunger leiden, ist ihr Engagement wichtiger denn je.

This year, I joined Shizuka again for a Food Loss Reduction Cooking Session 🍳, where we made a delicious and easy carrot cake 🥕!
We also learned about school lunches around the world and the issue of global hunger.
What struck me the most was learning that there are many children around the world — and even here in Japan — for whom school lunch is their only meal of the day.
The world is connected. We may be able to look away, but we are never truly uninvolved.
Asking “What can I do?” begins with knowing.
The first step is to learn ✌︎
And supporting or joining those who are already taking action is also a powerful way to contribute 👏
Let’s move toward a kinder world 🌏
