1. Linear (The Straight Arrow)
The Shape: A perfectly straight line.
The Use: Constant, predictable rates. If you earn exactly 10 dollars an hour, your bank account grows in a straight line.
2. Quadratic (The U-Turn)

The absolute sine wave, defined as the sine function with all negative values flipped upward, is a great example of why Fourier series are so useful. Although the wave looks simple, the sharp corners at the points where the sine wave touches zero mean it is not smooth. Because of these corners, the function cannot be represented by just one sine or cosine; instead, its Fourier series contains many cosine waves with different frequencies. The act of taking the absolute value introduces higher-frequency components, showing how sudden changes or non-smooth features in a function lead to richer frequency content in its Fourier series.
