When coming up with accessibility features it is vital that brands work with disabled people to create these as sometimes something might sound great on paper but in reality it might not work 🩷 #Accessibility: Video description: Eliza a White fem wheelchair user with blonde hair goes to Costa and shows the issue with the access bells and how they often don’t work and the issues with access bells. #Disabled #Education

Some ironic observations... If you didn't understand what he was saying, I've been there. Not yesterday tho thanks to @celimar_deafpr and @rican.with.music providing clear access to the show. I feel like I truly understood the context, excitement, culture, and meaning to each song ❤️‍🔥🤟#Superbowl #Deaf #SignLanguage #accessibility Video description: Chrissy stands in their apartment and signs with ASL to the camera. Chrissy is wearing a short sleeved white shirt with teal and red stripes, quarter buttoned down. Transcript: “The halftime show was awful, There were no English captions.” Some people have been complaining... The tables have turned. As a Deaf person, this year was great! One of my favorites! This year, not everyone understood the language being performed. Some didn’t understand the words, just enjoyed the music. That’s what Deaf people tend to do FYI. This year was unique because I see people complaining about what they missed. As a Deaf person, I watched the signed Puerto Rican dialect performance and felt I gained a deeper level of understanding to Bad Bunny’s music and culture through the interpretation. Usually its the opposite. My access to something > other peoples access. That never happens. Hopefully this discussion about captioning only leads more engagement and understanding about accessibility.

Booking theatre tickets. Should be easy, right? Welcome to the series where I show you how long it takes disabled people to do things versus non-disabled people. I’m Jenni and I’m disabled, and this is my non-disabled friend Beth, and we’re both trying to book tickets for @PaddingtonTheMusical Beth goes onto her phone, opens her ticketing app, finds the show, clicks to choose her seats, picks one and within 40 seconds she’s completed her booking and is ready to go. During that time, I haven’t even managed to find out how to book accessible seats. I go through the whole website trying to find where access tickets are. Eventually I find it but only because I already know which theatre it’s in and going to their website directly. I scroll through and finally find the access form I need to fill in. That process alone takes me six minutes, just to find out how to get tickets. Then I have to fill out a long access form, including detailed information and proof of my disability using my Access Card. If you don't already have an access card this whole scenario would take even longer. I get a confirmation email saying my application will take five days to be reviewed. It ended up taking three, but in that time, Beth could have seen the show already. After that, I still have to call the theatre access line to actually book suitable seats as a wheelchair user. It took me well over an hour of active work to make a booking and days of waiting in between. Same show. Very different experience. Accessibility should not be this complicated. Did this surprise you? It just shows how something that should be easy can be a massive task when you have a disability. If you’ve experienced this, or work in theatre or ticketing, I’d really love to hear your thoughts. And let me know what we should try next in the comments. #Accessibility #DisabledLife #TheatreAccess

Watch visually impaired hockey fans at Madison Square Garden experience the game with our new hockey devices. Fans can follow the puck using our trackable magnet and feel every tackle, pass, goal and most importantly, fights, with our haptic vibrations. Most importantly, our haptic vibrations now allow fans to feel the intensity of fights in real time. We are making the ice accessible for everyone! #accessibility #madisonsquaregarden #inclusivesports #newyorkrangers

Trying out a self balancing wheelchair… I first had a go on an Omeo a couple of years ago but never got the chance to try the seat steering (just the joystick to turn). I got the chance to try it in an open space and here’s my honest thoughts… Pros: • it was a lot of fun!! • this would be great to help wheelchair users enjoy and experience the outdoors- the chair I was on had the off-road tyres on. • It has a zero-degree turning circle, allowing it to turn on the spot in tight spaces • Can be switched to joystick mode to assist with turning • Can fit through a standard doorway with the regular tyres on • Hands-free operation: you can steer, accelerate and brake entirely through intuitive upper body movements, leaving hands free for other activities. • The constant weight shifting naturally encouraged frequent repositioning, which may help reduce the risk of pressure sores. Cons: • the cost 🙈 • it’s very heavy and would only fit in certain cars • Due to my limited core strength, I found it difficult to use the chair fully hands-free. Although I could engage my trunk by pushing my ribs into the backrest to initiate steering, I still needed to rely on my arms for balance (on my legs or the side handles). Perhaps this would improve with practice? • requires constant muscle engagement for small adjustments, which may be fatiguing or challenging Would you give a self-balancing wheelchair a try? I really enjoyed giving it a try! it’s a unique and exciting piece of equipment… Watching others use it, they often make it look much easier than it feels in practice, though it’s worth remembering that everyone has different levels of strength, balance and experience. Perhaps I just need more practice and confidence. I’d love the opportunity to try the Omeo again in the future, particularly to see how it handles UK pavements and maybe even take it for a spin on the beach 😎 #wheelchair #wheelchairuser #wheelchairgirl #accessibility #comedy @naidex_show @myadaptability

Hadley has a PSA she wants to share. 💗 “Please be considerate when using accessible stalls. For many people, these spaces are not just convenient — they’re necessary.” During a recent shopping trip, we waited over 30 minutes for an accessible changing room. When the door finally opened, a mom and daughter came out with a shopping cart. As you can imagine, Hadley felt frustrated. I reminded her that just because someone doesn’t look like they need an accessible space doesn’t mean they don’t. Invisible disabilities are real, and we always try to lead with understanding. But then something unexpected happened. They saw Hadley waiting… and immediately apologized, explaining that they didn’t actually need the accessible room. That moment stuck with her. Hadley has experienced this situation many times, in many places. And truthfully, before Hadley was born, I probably used accessible stalls without thinking too. We’re not saying never use them. If it’s the only option after waiting in line, of course — use it. But if other stalls are available, please choose those whenever possible. You never know when someone who truly depends on that space is waiting. And like Hadley says — in her ideal world, every stall would be accessible. 💗 #choosekindness #accessibilitymatters #accessibility #wheelchair #everystallaccessible

She’s 87 years old. Today, she tried Tesla’s Full Self-Driving for the first time. And she loved it. For many people, this might just look like another cool piece of technology. But for older adults, it means something much bigger. It means freedom. The hardest part of aging isn’t getting older — it’s when people start saying, “You shouldn’t drive anymore.” Suddenly independence disappears. Simple things like visiting friends, going to the doctor, or buying groceries require asking someone else for help. But technology is starting to change that. An 87-year-old enjoying her first FSD drive isn’t just a tech moment — it’s a glimpse of a future where aging doesn’t automatically mean losing mobility. And it’s not just seniors. For people with disabilities or anyone who cannot drive, this kind of technology could open the world again. Sometimes innovation isn’t about speed. It’s about giving people their independence back. #AutonomousDriving #Tesla #FutureOfMobility #AgingWithDignity #Accessibility
