The Feeding Mistake Cutting Your Dog’s Life Short ⚖️🥩 Are you following the feeding guidelines on your dog food bag? You might be overfeeding them! 🤯 A massive 14-year study revealed that dogs fed 25% LESS lived almost TWO YEARS longer. The crazy part? The “control” group wasn’t even overweight—they looked perfectly normal. The food we give out of love might actually be harming them. You don’t need expensive supplements or fancy food; you just need to feed a little less to help them live longer, healthier lives. ❤️ 👇 Check your dog’s body condition! What does your dog look like right now? Save this as a reminder before their next meal! #DogNutrition #DogHealth #DogDiet #PetHealth #HealthyDog DogTips VeterinaryMedicine DogParentLife DogFood

I'm scared to post this but here goes... 😬🙏 Raw feeding is one of the most controversial topics in the pet industry, and as a vet, I get challenged on it every single day. People often think vets are just "anti-raw" because we want to push kibble for profit. But our stance has absolutely nothing to do with brand loyalty, and everything to do with risk analysis. Watch the video to hear the science behind why you won't catch me recommending raw food. 👀🦠 Do you feed raw, cooked, or kibble - and why? Let’s chat (respectfully) in the comments! 👇 #VetAdvice #RawDogFood #JunoPets #DogNutrition #DogHealthTips

Is raw feeding better for dogs? Not always — it depends on balance, safety, and your individual dog. While raw diets can work well for some dogs, research shows modern dogs are adapted to digest a mixed diet, not just meat. Raw feeding can also carry risks like bacterial exposure and nutritional imbalances if not done properly. The real question isn’t raw vs kibble — it’s whether your dog’s diet is complete, balanced, and sustainable long-term. #DogNutrition #RawFeeding #DogHealth #DogDiet #DogOwners

If someone can spend roughly eight years in higher education studying animal health and still come out the other side deeply disconnected from what a dog is biologically meant to eat, that is not an accident, or a harmless oversight. It is the predictable outcome of a system built to protect industry instead of deepening biological understanding. Dogs are carnivorous scavengers. Their bodies are designed for real food… meat, organs, bone, moisture, variety. Not ultra-processed pellets made in factories, stripped by heat, then sprayed with synthetic replacements and sold as the gold standard of healthy. It is not just a “gap” in education or a “system failure.” It is a system functioning exactly as intended… keeping future professionals loyal to the products, paradigms, and profit streams that sustain the machine. Simple as that. When fresh food is treated as radical, and dead food in a bag is treated as science, that should tell you everything you need to know. The goal should have been a generation of veterinarians deeply rooted in ancestral nutrition but instead it was to create compliance with an industry model, and dogs have been paying for that arrangement with their health for decades. Wake up to it and learn how to do better. Over 2 years ago I said this… and I still stand by it. How many times a day should you feed your dog? 🐾 Feeding ONCE a day may have major health benefits — and research from the University of Arizona backs that up. When I first shared this, the comments went OFF. I got a lot of stick for even suggesting it. But two years later? I haven’t changed my mind. Are we feeding out of habit… or out of evidence? 👀 #dognutrition #dogsofinstagram #dogsofinstagram #dogeducation

@buhoboost
“My dog eats complete & balanced commercial food, does this mean complete nutrition?” I’ve gotten this question from many of you since my last post, so I’m going to quickly address it. Complete & balanced is a regulatory term. It means a food meets minimum nutrient levels a dog needs to survive. It says nothing about whether the nutrient profile is optimal or even if it’s right for your individual dog. Here are some things it doesn’t tell you: ‼️ Are nutrient levels optimal, or just the bare minimum? Nutrients interact. Too much copper blocks zinc absorption. A food can meet both minimums and still leave your dog deficient over time. Adequate and optimal are not the same thing. Not all forms of a nutrient are bioavailable. A food can contain adequate nutrients, but they might not be in a form that your dog can absorb. ‼️ What is the omega-6 to omega-3 ratio? AAFCO permits up to 30:1. Research shows 5:1 or lower is where anti-inflammatory benefits begin. Chronic low-grade inflammation is the root of many common diseases in dogs. Your dog’s food can be complete and balanced, and still be fuelling inflammation. ‼️ Is it right for your dog? Most commercial foods are formulated for the average adult active dog. What your dog needs depends on their age, life stage, activity level, and health status. Feed less to manage weight in a less active dog, and you quietly create nutrient gaps. ‼️ How were the ingredients processed? Kibble is extruded at extreme heat - destroying heat-sensitive vitamins, denaturing proteins, and forming compounds linked to chronic inflammation and disease. This also goes back to the bioavailability point. Minimal processing preserves nutrients far better. ‼️ Has it actually been tested? Many brands calculate nutrients on paper. Without lab testing the final product, actual levels can vary based on sourcing and other factors. Microbial safety testing is also not universally required or disclosed. Complete and balanced is a starting point, not a heath guarantee. Knowing what the label is missing and what questions to ask is what separates meeting bare minimums from feeding intentionally. #DogHealth #DogNutrition #DubaiDogs

The vet industry makes money when things go wrong, not when they stay right. A healthy dog is not profitable. That is why nobody is out here telling you this. Most of what sends dogs to the vet is preventable. And the ingredients that actually prevent it cost almost nothing. 🌿 Chicory root Feeds the good gut bacteria so nutrients actually absorb instead of passing straight through. Most dogs are eating but barely absorbing anything. 🎃 Pumpkin seed Keeps digestion moving the way it is supposed to. When this slows down everything else starts breaking down with it. 💊 Probiotics Maintains the gut lining. This is where most preventable illness actually starts and almost no kibble addresses it at all. 🌊 Spirulina and chlorella Clears out what builds up over time and keeps inflammation low before it turns into something your vet has to treat. Each of these on their own is cheap. But sourcing all of it every single day is where most owners give up. That is exactly what Iron Paws is. A vet formulated superfood topper with over 20 organic ingredients. Think AG1 but for your dog. Just sprinkle it on their food once a day for a fraction of what one vet visit costs. Because the $2,000 bill you never want is sitting in your dog’s bowl today. Link is in my bio so you grab the right one. Comment ‘VET’ and I will send you the full daily routine we use to keep him out of the waiting room. 👉 Iron Paws: https://amzn.to/3Lz0wpB

Why do dogs react differently to raw diets? Raw feeding can work great for some dogs… but not all. Every dog has a unique digestive system and gut microbiome, which affects how they process food. Some dogs show improvements like better digestion and energy, while others may experience no change or even digestive issues. There’s no one-size-fits-all diet — the best food is what your dog can digest, absorb, and thrive on long-term. #DogNutrition #RawFeeding #DogHealth #DogDiet #DogOwners
