This might be the most beautiful Art Nouveau book I’ve ever seen… 🌿✨ Ad/gifted Art Nouveau has been one of my biggest sources of inspiration for years. Many of my headpieces - and even my Art Nouveau dress sewing pattern - were born from studying the flowing lines and symbolism of this incredible movement. So you can imagine how excited I was when Century Guild gifted me this absolute treasure: Le Pater - Alphonse Mucha’s Symbolist Masterpiece and the Lineage of Mysticism. The book dives deep into the 1899 Le Pater series by Alphonse Mucha - one of the most personal and mystical works he ever created. For someone who constantly searches for historical and artistic references while designing costumes, this is pure inspiration. There are curious circles in the history of dress. Historical silhouettes once inspired the artists of the Art Nouveau era. More than a century later, those drawings inspired a fantasy sewing pattern… and that fantasy pattern led me back to a historical-style gown. From history → to imagination → and back to history again. This reel shows the making of the Art Nouveau dress from a @janinagoldart pattern: embroidery, hand stitching, draping and small details slowly coming together on the mannequin. A quiet dialogue between historical costume, fantasy design and the world of Art Nouveau. Should I create more fantasy-inspired historical gowns ? Uno de los productos míticos que encontráis en Real Fábrica. Son las vaselinas Gal, creadas a principios del siglo XX por Salvador Echeandía Gal en su droguería de la madrileña calle Arenal. Quizás no sabíais que fue pionero en nuestro país, creando un departamento de Publicidad, que contaba con los mejores ilustradores de principios de la época como Alphonse Mucha, Federico Ribas o Pedro Prat Caballí. Por eso las latitas ilustradas por ellos son consideradas como auténticas obras de arte cercanas al Art déco. Servían para todo, para hidratar los labios, las zonas secas de la piel y los más coquetos las usaban hasta en las pestañas. Antes se encontraban fácilmente, pero poco a poco fueron quedando relegadas en las estanterías de las tiendas de barrio. Y como estas van desapareciendo, me las traje a Real Fábrica. Aquí las encontráis en todos los sabores.
