Printing in the ICP darkroom! Faculty @RachelleBussieres makes a lumen print with one of the many plants on our third floor. Lumen printing uses silver gelatin photo paper and UV exposure to create prints.⁠ ⁠ Here, Rachelle exposes her plant and photo paper in its frame to sunlight, then flips the plant and exposes it with UV light in the darkroom. This is followed by a wash, fix to prevent further exposure, and dry.⁠ ⁠ Join us soon for an upcoming course—from darkroom printing and alternative process to finding your creative vision and completing a long form project with our leading faculty.⁠ ⁠ With the holidays on the horizon, you can also give a class as a gift! we’re so back! haven’t worked on this project in a good 9-10 months, but here it is, my latest batch for ‘Flora Aequor’ created through cyanotypes onto seashells collected from Brighton. This project explores the connection between plants and sea, commenting on the uneven dynamic of plants grown on land, printed onto gifts from the ocean, like seashells. The use of the alternative process photography of cyanotypes produces deep rich tones onto the seashells, mimicking that of the ocean! - The last year for me has been tough, i’ve been incredibly burnt out with anything creative, university made me feel like i was creating work just to be marked, but now it’s summer and i’m done with uni, i want to reconnect with making art that i really want to create, like this, and much more to come hopefully!
