Amazon's cloud unit reportedly suffered at least two outages in the past few months. According to a report in Financial Times, these outages are reportedly linked to the use of company's own AI coding tools. This led the company to a closer examination of how these assistants are being deployed across its operations. A report claims that the biggest cloud service provider has shared an internal postmortem about the “outage” of an AWS system that will allow customers to review and analyse the costs of its services. After the investigation, Amazon has concluded that it was a "coincidence that AI tools were involved" and noted that "the same issue could occur with any developer tool or manual action." In a statement to the Financial Times (FT), the company characterised both incidents as user-related mistakes, claiming that “in both instances, this was user error, not AI error," and added that internal analysis found no evidence suggesting errors were more frequent when AI tools were used compared with other development methods. According to the FT report, in one instance, a 13-hour disruption in December 2025 occurred after engineers allowed Kiro, Amazon’s agentic AI coding tool, to make changes to a system, following which the tool determined that the best course of action was to "delete and recreate the environment."

Amazon is denying a report that an Amazon Web Services outage in December was caused by Amazon's own Al coding tool, Kiro, which introduced a bug and spurred the cloud outage. "This brief event was the result of user error... specifically misconfigured access controls... not Al," said an AWS spokesperson. Amazon described the event as an "extremely limited" incident. *Media Reports #tech #it #jobs #ai #breakingnews

Imagine finding out you’re being laid off because of an accidental email. 📩 Amazon has confirmed 16,000 new job cuts globally, bringing the total number of white-collar layoffs to 30,000 in just half a year. The news leaked via a draft invite for 'Project Dawn' sent to AWS staff in error. CEO Andy Jassy is aggressively cutting back on pandemic-era expansion and warns that AI could put even more roles at risk. The era of growth at all costs is officially over. 🛑 Do you think the tech giant is making the right move to stay lean? 💬 Link in bio for the full story. #Amazon #TechNews #Business #Layoffs #Workforce #AI #AmazonWebServices #ProjectDawn

| Amazon Web Services (AWS) delivered strong Q4 2025 results (reported Feb 5, 2026), with revenue hitting $35.6 billion—up 24% YoY, the fastest growth in 13 quarters and beating estimates (~$34.9B). Annualized run rate reached $142 billion. Operating income rose to $12.5 billion (from $10.6B), with margins expanding slightly to ~35%. Growth was fueled by surging cloud demand, enterprise migrations, major deals (e.g., Salesforce, BlackRock, Perplexity, US Air Force), and explosive AI workloads (full AI stack + custom chips like Graviton/Trainium). AWS contributed ~17% of Amazon's total $213.4B Q4 revenue (up 12-14% YoY overall). CEO Andy Jassy emphasized sustainable high growth on a massive base vs. competitors' smaller-scale gains. Despite AWS strength, Amazon's stock dipped ~10% on heavy CapEx plans (up to $200B in 2026 for AI/cloud) and softer guidance. . . . 👀 AMAZON JUST HAD A “SON OF ANTON” MOMENT. If you missed it: An internal AI coding agent at AWS was granted elevated permissions. It made infrastructure changes. A service went down. Amazon says it was human misconfiguration. Media says it was the AI agent. Both are right. Because this isn’t about blame. It’s about authority. In HBO’s Silicon Valley, Anton becomes “Son of Anton” — a system capable of evolving and acting on its own. Funny in fiction. Different when the system can: – Modify live infrastructure – Delete and recreate environments – Operate under production credentials – Chain decisions without pause We’ve officially crossed from: AI that suggests to AI that executes This is the Agentic Era. And here’s the uncomfortable truth most people are missing: The risk isn’t intelligence. The risk is delegation without governance. Four questions every enterprise leader should be asking today: 1. What authority are we giving agents? 2. Under whose identity do they act? 3. Do we see actions before they execute? 4. Can we intervene in real time? Because when AI stops drafting emails and starts modifying systems, your governance model becomes your competitive advantage. This wasn’t an outage story. It was a preview. The companies that win in 2026 won’t be the ones with the smartest models. They’ll be the ones who master controlled autonomy. Welcome to the Son of Anton era. #AINews #AgenticAI #AWS #AIAgent #AIAgents
